Kes is actually getting credited for runner-up now.

Hopefully that helps.

It appeared that Ross slowed down and being last lap there was no giving and Byron wasn’t going fo slow down and lose 3rd place to Kes. No idea fault, I think Ross got loose and backed into Byron a bit. Toss up.

As for Chase, I watched him every restart. He was aggressive but also figured out the high line.

It seemed to me almost every car was going too far up track on restarts. Chase was nailing it and even though he took outside line for most restarts except at end, he kept glued to the inside car. This kept him from washing up the track when air from car ahead hit. I like a confident Chase, he had just the right amount of take it to them.

The XFinity car races much better than this one. You can get loose with it and save, but rarely with this clown car. Jimmy J proves how hard this car is explaining why its different. Chase missing a lot of last year had to catch up. And today he did.

I think we’ll see a new Chase rest of year. He has the confidence he needed.

And WFT with that wheel falling off Larson car? He ran several at speed racing laps and then it falls off on caution? That was so strange.

Anyone wish they'd still give points for leading a lap & most laps led?

Even a point for a pole position would be nice. I'd give a point for the fastest lap.

Here is the in car video from Byron's car. Seems to have backed up what you said. Although I will say that Byron stayed in the throttle on that second bump and said frick it, it's the last lap. Nothing wrong with that.

Ryan Sieg has never been in that position. He didn't know how to defend himself.

I’m new to Nascar, but as I understand it, Top-10 is the goal until the playoff starts, right?

No. There are 16 cars in the last 10 races (the Chase). Winning gets an auto bump to top of win/chase list. By the time they get close to chase there are usually around 12-14 winners and those are ranked by wins and points. Then it goes to highest in points.

You could technically be ranked 1 in points with 0 wins and miss the chase, if there are 16 different race winners.

So most wins is top and if toed on wins then its ranked by points. If there are not 16 different winners then you need highest points.

Where it gets tricky is someone who normally finishes around 20th in points gets a win they jump ahead of non winners.
