We are ending a cruise in Rome on June 8th and will be there til the 11th. 4 adults one 11 yr old. Anyone have hotel recommendations....prices seem crazy during that time. We aren't against AirBNB but not sure where we would put our bags etc until checkin.

My favorite is the Hotel Nazionale.
Nice hotel in a great location, within easy walking distance to most places you will want to go. It is on the same square the Italian Parliament building is on.

If you ask the AirBnB manager / owner they may allow you to deposit your bags early.
When we went we dropped our bags off while it was still being cleaned and went back later when it was ready. All it took was a conversation and coordination with the owner.

We stayed at the Hotel L’Orologio last time. Great rooftop space. Close to sights and within a long walk to the Trastevere area for the best pasta.

Looks nice but it is like $6000 for two rooms for three days when we are there.

Hotel Splendide Royal Roma. Beautiful restaurant, Mirabelle. Great location as well.

One thing I can tell you, I personally would not want a hotel DIRECTLY on one of the major tourist sites.
The pakistani's selling schlock are out late into the night and aren't quiet

You might want to check out the options on www.monasteries.com It's old convents and such that have been converted to hotels. I think most of their accommodations are pretty basic but they're affordable, breakfast is included, and it will be quiet! Lol!

Don't let your bags be an issue. Just about every European city has multiple locker rooms where you can go 24-7 and lock up your bags--even very large suitcases.

Try Hotel San Francesco in Trastevere. Great location - and they will store luggage.

Stayed in a Sonder (apartment) property near the Vatican with my teenager and mom that was comfortable and spacious for the price in July 2022. Next trip with husband we stayed at a hotel near pantheon and really enjoyed that stay. Terrace Pantheon was the name. Prices have shot up tremendously in Rome and everywhere really.

I've got a couple of recommendations.
For an apartment, check these out: Amazing Suites Rome. High quality and great locations.
For a hotel, this one is atop the Spanish Steps and is one of the nicest hotels in the city: Hotel Hassler. The rooftop restaurant Imago is also excellent.
