Point Zion would not result in wide open 3s tonight bc his man is waiting for him at the rim
Wait, you're saying Zion with a full head of steam 1 on 1 attacking the rim wouldn't work?

Dyson was drafted 8th in a solid draft. I expect more of a lottery player. In theory, he SHOULD be on a Herb trajectory. He's regressed offensively from his rookie year potential or remains stagnant at best. Can you see Dyson averaging 10pts in the next 2 years. Nope.
If he ain't getting a running layup or taking a whirling derby floater, he ain't scoring.

With Giannis and Lopez waiting for him…no it would not work . That’s correct .

Don't get me wrong, we lost mainly due to defense. But it still doesn't make sense that we had literally the best offensive game in franchise history due to a change in scheme then didn't play through that scheme the very next game.

This. It blows my fricking mind. I love Willie. But a 5-6 seed is his ceiling as a coach.

I was one of them, sadly.

So are we saying Griff fricked up the dyson pick?

I’m not saying that yet but its getting pretty close to that point.

Over his last 6 games, Dyson has scored 9 points in 95 minutes.

You can’t play with that production. You certainly can’t let that step on the floor in the playoffs and expect to win.

He is not close to being a rotational piece on a playoff team.

Yet there are people on here who think its not worth trading Dyson for Caruso??!! If we had that opportunity I would do it in a heartbeat.

Tough to say considering the immediate picks after him aren't anything special.

It's easy to say we should've drafted Walker Kessler, but he wasn't taken until 22, so it's not like we were the only ones who missed on him.

Zion is an overly sized 3, with no 3 or game and no work ethic to rebound. He is just a scorer with no position. It does not work for this team like maybe some other teams.
I’m all for trading BI and Zion. But the consensus is not

Fans get attached and or over value their own guys .

Like someone yesterday claiming Zion or BI were better than SGA.

Afraid so. He is a player who might be playable when he’s 25. He doesn’t fit our timeline.

It especially hurts because the 2022 draft appears to be pretty good and we passed on some good players picked shortly after Dyson.

Duren and Mark Williams were others. But Dyson before draft was getting rave reviews. People loved him.

He was 8 of 14 for 23 points with 2 guys waiting for him at the rim when he did get the ball.

We just weren't intentional to make that the focal point of the offense.

No elite guys, but Jalen Williams, Marc Williams and Duren would all address real holes in our current team.

1. Blow out an opponent.

2. Get blow out by an opponent.

3. Blow a huge lead & lose in the 4th quarter.

That's the Pels in 23/24 yet this board's admin anchors threads.

I'm as positive as it there is when it comes to the Pelicans but these results for this season are painfully obvious.

You could tell on Zion's 1st possesion in the paint and sizing up Giannis who was 4ft off of him damn near under the goal with Lopez not paying attention to JV, what type of night it would be. Zion saw the setup took two dribbles and passed it out.

Zion HAS to shoot the ball now. Otherwise he Ben Simmons. Never have I see a team play defense the way teams are now scheming for Zion. Stay home on the 1 shooter or 2 that might be in the game but the other 2 defenders are damn near in the paint as well forming a wall.

Where is the high screens and pick and roll with BI and CJ. This shite is nauseating.

For sure not a good game, but you had to know they'd struggle before the ASB with this schedule (I actually think they'll perform better against the Celts). This teams' issue is that it is just weirdly constructed. They can out-talent most good to below-average teams but will always struggle against elite teams, particularly if they have size.

Pels aren't that far off though. The front-court needs to make better sense (lumbering and an undersized Post with an undersized PF) and lack of a true point (this would allow BI and Zion to be finishers) would push the needle. More likely than not, a fan favorite may have to be sacrificed for the greater good.
