I finished part 1 of dune and I’m really into it. It has a game of thrones season 1 type feel where there was a lot of political chess going on before the “bad guys” outmaneuvered the good guy. I feel like this is setting up a nice guys finish last theme and Paul will have to play dirty to win.

Also a Darth Vader feel as Paul figures out his lineage.

I feel for Yueh. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place and made the best of the situation that he could. But he should have known not to trust those frickers.

I hope Gurney and/or Hawat survive so Paul has some experienced fighters on his side.

I finished the book today and wow what a ride. There were a few parts that I thought dragged a bit but good lord did it come to a climactic end.

My favorite "minor" character is Alia. I have a 4 year old daughter and the thought of her dressing down al the adults cracked me up. She was a bad little bitch.

the only thing I didn't fully understand is did Paul, Usul, Muad Dib, Lisan Al Gaib, Kwitsatz Haderach, Duke Atreides flip at the end and decide that the jihad he was trying to avoid is now his purpose?
