Didn’t feel like starting a new thread. Ceremony starts an hour early this year at 6pm.

Oppenheimer leads with 13 nominations, Poor Things in second with 11. No real surprises to me, except Godzilla Minus One for Visual Effects and no “Peaches” for Song. I think Godzilla has a real shot at winning. Same for Zone of Interest for Sound Design.

Margot Robbie missing a nomination is a pretty big deal.

BEST PICTURE
American Fiction

Not trying to be "that guy," but I've literally never heard of this one.
quote:

Based on the 2001 novel Erasure by Percival Everett, the film follows a frustrated novelist-professor who writes an outlandishly stereotypical "black" book as satire, only for the book to be published to high sales and praise.

Seems to have a 93% RT critical consensus and a 96% audience score.

Oppenheimer is definitely poised in so many categories to get a huge cache of hardware.

I'm as big an Oppenheimer fan as there is on this board, and I think the movie should win Best Picture in addition to a bunch of other awards.

That being said, a nomination for Costume Design? Aren't they mostly just wearing normal clothes?

How the frick is Godzilla Minus One not a nominee in the international feature category?

It's a great movie that just so happens to be a Godzilla movie.

Very hard not to mansplain when people say "so only the guy in Barbie gets nominated" when America Ferrera and Billie Eilish are also nominated.
