There will probably have to be a toll free alternative to crossing the Calcasieu River

Yes it has been around for decades. It's called the I-210 Loop.

Yesterday I paid $16 for crossing the Louisville I-65 bridge twice in May in a motorhome. This was the first billing I received, there was no late fee.

Until ground is broken, I’ll never believe a politician in LA regarding infrastructure upgrades.

that's a bunch of bull shite.
The toll road shoudl be the loop, not on the main road.

and let me get this straight. we are going to charge just 25 cents to go over it? are we going to mail these bills? a postage is more than 25 cents. And who the hell is going to take the time out of their day to make a 25 cent payment?

I hope they utilize the same EZ Tag system that Texas does instead of putting toll both operators out there.

Kansas has tolls everywhere.

The amount of taxes vs. services we get in this country is absolutely asinine. It makes a man want to build a tank out of construction vehicles.

People will still be paying for this bridge after the replacement for this replacement bridge is finished.

The Interstate 10 bridge over the Calcasieu River here is a throwback to another era, but still relied upon by around 90,000 vehicles per day at a key section of the cross-country highway.

Sixty percent of the people paying the tolls will be from outside Louisiana, he said.

Hmmm, this sounds familiar. I seem to recall another politician saying something about building a structure and making somebody else pay for it. Hmm, what was that again?

off the top of my head,

I35 in Kansas from the OK border to Wichita is tolled, as well as up in Minnesota. I10 in LA is toll for part of the way. A lot of 95 up in NE is. you cannot get from Texas to Tulsa OK without paying a toll that i know of.

the 13 miles of coastline on 95 that New Hampshire has running parallel with the ocean is tolled in it's entirety.

I feel like there is no way they can actually have booths. It seems like it would have to be done by scan/camera. Traffic would back up terribly.

There should never be a toll on an interstate.

Yeah the great city of Vinton charges a toll in the form of hyper aggressive speed enforcement on it’s empty 2 mile stretch of highway

Agreed. 210 bridge should be the toll bridge and the new I-10 bridge should be free.

The casinos would never let 210 be the toll bridge

There is one between Kentucky and Indiana at Louisville on Interstate 65 or you can detour through downtown Louisville risking your life to use the free bridge.

That’s a 93% reduction

There’s over 2900 miles of toll interstate in the US. I was curious my self and googled it. I couldn’t believe there was so many miles of tolls
