We do shrimp. More meat less work.

I'll just come out and say it. Crawfish are overrated as Frick. I enjoy crawfish but the prices make it beyond unreasonable
Give me a plate of boiled potatoes, carrots, corn, and sausage (except on Fridays in Lent) boiled in crab boil seasoning with the mayo/ketchup dipping sauce, I will be good. I am fine with no crawfish for me.

The LSU Ag report paints a grim picture that will support double digit crawfish prices for the entire season, even in March-April. Drought and skyrocketing costs are to blame. Sorry guys, you won’t see any sub-$10 per pound crawfish this year.

lol, you were the guy giving out gym instructions in another thread, and here you are eating a chicken basket. I’m sure it was grilled

And I think they sold out with the quickness. No place in the Nola area has even had any I don't think since early December.
Seither’s has hot boiled crawfish for $8.99/lb

Is this remotely precedented in SELA?
$7 would be my absolute max but I try to hold out for $6.

Tailgators in The Woodlands area.
If they're charging $12.99/lb then I have to imagine that they'll be charging $20/lb down the road at Deacon Baldy's.

By March you will
As soon as the catch picks up a little and more guys start running the price is going to drop in half

The popularity of crawfish in Texas has assured that crawfish will never be cheap again. We could have the wettest year ever and it wouldn’t matter. Thanks Texas.

Place around me [thibodaux] has a 5 lb special for 61.99. It’s fricking outrageous but I’ll gladly keep buying sacks of oysters.

That's what you get for going to TX and eating crawfish.

It's $12.99/lb at one place in Opelousas right now.

Are y’all not understanding why the price is so high? Y’all act like the reasons that are given are untrue.
There was a fukin drought and nobody is catching crawfish right now.

Yep. Some places (serving boiled crawfish, not live) are charging $51 for a 3lb order
Posted on 1/19/24 at 9:06 am to TSmith
Simply not true. Just an uneducated comment. How do you explain on this date last year, farmers were getting paid $2.50lb, which would put boiled crawfish around $5-$6lb? Last I checked Texas ate crawfish last year
Posted on 1/19/24 at 9:09 am to tgrbaitn08
If a place is selling crawfish for less than $10lb it’s more than likely old crawfish from last year. There’s no way they are buying crawfish for $9lb, and boiling and selling them for $10lb.

Tailgators in The Woodlands area. Always good. Blaming the summer drought. Said it’s a special, earlier were $14.99/pound.
I said give me the chicken fingers. Will wait until March.
What kind of sissy lets a restaurant in Texas boil his crawfish for him?
I'll tell you what kind. The kind that posted a pic of Brett Favre's dick on the golf board

I don't know who you are referring to, but I work with and know alot of crawfish farmers. I understand very well what's going on right now. I was also just pointing out that it's not just in Houston where the prices are high.

The majority of people in this country need to go back to Econ 101. Just a few hours of supply/demand basics would do everyone wonders.
