So do the taxpayers in London help finance stadiums or is that just an American thing.

Clubs fund their own stadiums that the build no public money is used in Europe for the most part

West Ham and City situation is a bit different. Neither of them own their ground. Both were built for games and then once the Olympics and Commonwealth games were over, each stadium was converted. Because neither owns the stadium they lease it from the city. It’s why everyone jokes and calls the Etihad the council house. Bc no matter how rich they are. It is still the City of Manchester stadium. The difference between City and West Ham is, City in their lease said they would pay for all maintenance and upgrades to the stadium. As well as infrastructure to the surrounding area. They used it as an FFP loop hole for spending money on the squad when they were spending way more than they had been bringing in. Infrastructure improvements and stadium capacity increased actually let you spend more money based on potential revenue.

West Ham’s lease does not require them to provide upkeep to the stadium

So is it safe to say that these are not multi-purpose stadiums like AT&T, MBS or NRG where they’re being used more than half the year?
