So by streaming the game, they lost out on roughly 15 million viewers. Smashing success.

23 million at $5.99/month is a lot of money. And they’re also banking on a ton of those forgetting to cancel and getting those monthly payments in perpetuity

Here it is 2024 and it's becoming infinitely more difficult to just watch a ball game on TV. Gone are the days of just turning TV on and flipping a few channels

You can watch basically any game in any sport from anywhere on your phone. It’s way easier to watch now. It just may be more expensive than being able to watch a handful of games a weekend on a standard cable package.

Did the 40M from packers game pay 5.99 to watch?

I think they’ll consider the $138M from monthly subscriptions a success

Don't forget the ad revenue from the commercials they still showed during the game.

I refuse to download another streaming service to watch NFL

Same here.

I wanted to watch the game but am not signing up for shite to do it. Playoff streaming and NIL will not get a dime of my money.

You have to say “No,” people.

get ready for every game to be PPV

That’s when I quit watching. I only watch now if I can do it with an over the air antenna, so the NFL doesn’t get any ratings from me.

I have Peacock so I watched. If it was on Apple+ I would not subscribe and would not same. Just like Apple+ has an MLB game every week. I have MLB.tv but they expect me to pay for yet another streaming service? Frick them.

If the NFL goes down that road, Frick them too.

Well the NFL lost me years ago so they go down to these streaming coverages…don’t care.

Also, the local markets had over the air telecasts and those are added to the “streaming” numbers not deducted. Misleading again

Yep, between the local markets of KC and Miami metros that's gotta be several million.

Watching an NFL playoff game for under $6 is a bargain. I would sign up 100 times out of 100.

Beats paying $80 and an espn+ subscription to watch a ufc fight

We going PPV for sporting events? Then I better not watch a damn second of commercials if I am paying to watch a game.

Sure, but how many of those 23 million were already paying $5.99/month.
sounds like just about all of them......

Isn't everything streamed? I haven't had cable for at least 5 years.

Well that just means the NFL now knows they can do it.

Expect big regular season games to be streamed and not available to all within a couple of years.

Less than 1.5 million combined watched OTA.

Still worth deducting though.

It apparently did about half the viewership of the Cowboys/Packers game (a bigger name match-up) and about 6 million less than Texans/Browns (a lower name match-up on the same network).

But hey, it got better viewership than last year's matchup of Chargers/Jaguars.

It may not have been suicide, but I don't think it's a giant boon. If it didn't drive new subscribers then I don't see how you can consider this a win for NBC.
