I'm wondering if Saban's shadow will limit the number of candidates for the Bama job.

On one hand, the obvious is that you are getting one of the most coveted positions in college football. You have the machine in place. On the other hand, even if you are amazing, unless you are all-world, you will be seen as a disappointment.

Tough hire. It is like trying to replace Tom Brady or Michael Jordan.

Yes.

I would tank Alabama football SO hard while still trying my absolute best.

Hell no. It'd be like being behind John Holmes at a gangbang

Absolutely not. Whoever it ends up being will never measure up to what Saban did there.

Say the next guy goes 10-2 regular seasons with a couple first round playoff losses in both of his first two seasons. The Bama fanbase will be wanting his head on a dish.

Saban's run spoiled the fans and they are deluded into thinking its easy to be in the title hunt every single year. That's just not reality and it's going to take a while for them to realize the expectations are gonna have to be adjusted.

Sure. I’d follow him.

If I knew I could leave Oregon for an extra 3 million per year……I’d take that chance.

Saban is not taking his facilities with him.

Alabama doesn’t want to decline. They will pay and ramp up NIL/efforts.

It’s definitely going to suck being the guy after the ultimate guy.

Changing things up after 17 years is going to be a headache

You gotta think... it's actually not what everyone thinks.

Fans right now will have a much lower expectation tbh. The reality is that if a new guy can come in here, even if they were like Richt, I believe I'd be relieved as hell.

The bar is flat out lowered by default currently. The end hope is national championships, of course. but they'll have time as far as i'm concerned.

That 2nd loss is going to bring anger. That 3rd loss is going to make them so mad they can't get it up for their sister-cousins.
