Jeff Duncan: Inside the Saints' cultural issues. Can Dennis Allen and the Saints right the ship?
-Late for meetings
-No on-field accountability
-Not using the Microsoft tablets when instructed to
-Players purposely parking in the wrong parking lot at the Saints facility
This reminds me when Wayne Gandy had his own recliner in the locker room during the Haslett era, and Sean Payton cut him right away to rid of that type of culture. But as of now, DA has brought us back to the Haslett era of no accountability and mediocrity.

But the first change needed to be implemented between the ears rather than between the lines. The Saints’ workplace culture had devolved. It didn’t happen overnight. But gradually the standards that had been set in the building over the years were not being met.
As the season progressed, attention to detail waned. Some players were late to meetings. At some road games, buses to and from the stadium rolled late. At one point in midseason, an audit revealed dozens of players had not been using their Microsoft tablets to study the team’s digital playbook during their off times from the facility, an issue that was quickly addressed and corrected by team leaders.
Another example of this ennui: An increasing number of players and staff began parking in the smaller public parking lot at the team’s training facility rather than the larger, gated lot reserved for them on the side of the facility. Some players even regularly parked in the front lot’s four handicapped spots. At times, this created an unnecessary shortage of parking at the facility that team officials said would be addressed but apparently was either neglected or ignored.
On their own, these might seem like minor issues. But collectively, they create an environment that encourages inertia, disorder and lowered standards, a football version of the broken windows theory — that if a window in a building is broken and left unrepaired, all the rest of the windows will soon be broken, leading to neglect, misbehavior and even criminal activity. The principle was developed to explain the decay of neighborhoods, but it is often applied to criminology and work and educational environments.

This didn’t just happen. Dont be naive.
Payton has just as much accountability for the decline in standards as Allen does.

Again…Allen was hired specifically to keep the winning culture we had in place. He failed. Failed terribly.
He failed to create a winning culture in Oakland. That’s not in his skill set.
He failed to maintain a winning culture in New Orleans.
WHY ARE WE KEEPING THIS ABJECT FAILURE OF A HEAD COACH?!?!

Underhill also reported on his pod that players went to Mickey about DA and the coaching staff during the season.

why not let him go?
why wait for him to turn it around?
I dont understand, what am I missing here?
Let the motherfricker go.

This speaks to the culture and why we see the missed assignments, lack of effort, and penalties during games. This is what creates a losing culture and losing teams.

I read the article as a complete excuse for keeping DA.. it says ML went in alone after DA to let the team know what is exactly expected. Hey Mick if you have to do that you don’t have the right coach. And Jeff— who sets the culture - it’s the head coach. It’s like I’m in a bizarro world every time I hear ML make excuses. Also if DA needs Gruden he is not right coach nor does he have the right assistants

Loomis: we are hiring DA to keep the culture
Culture dies
Keeps DA
Culture dies
Keeps DA

Others have pointed it out, but this is just the Saints leaking stuff to Duncan, throwing players under, so that we "understand" why they're dumping players instead of Allen. Don't fall for the Saints propaganda.
Stinchcomb was just on the radio a few days ago talking about how many players were missing curfew Super Bowl week, missing the team photo, etc. Imagine the stories that could have come out had the Saints lost that game.
Some version of this article could be written about every team, every season, even the good teams. Its the NFL, not the Boy Scouts.

“Dennis Allen is being promoted for continuity purposes”
Fails both on the field and off, impending exodus of players, and FO personnel…Dennis somehow still has a job. This organization is fricking broken and it sucks

That was a bullshite publicity move. Next thing you know they were turning the lockerroom into a night club,

Well Gayle and Mickey are stupid and Dennis the Menace just straight up sucks. Hard to be motivated when these are the lemmings you work for.
