I didn't get to watch and I'm curious if it was just an off game, or if it was the Clippers trying on defense the whole game and the Pels usual wilting against a good defense and spending at least half the shot clock trying to get the ball to BI/Zion who are so guarded they can't do anything with it?

The clippers are a really good team when healthy. I’d put them the odds on favorite to win it all if they stay healthy Westbrook and Harden are actually playing team ball They also except that this is Leonard and George’s team to lead

In my opinion, things started to fall apart when the Pels were consistently making the wrong reads against their double teams and hard hedges. This resulted in some low percentage scoring opportunities, and Paul George began to shoot the piss out the ball.

Their center got some easy scoring opportunities when CJ decided switch on the ball screens.

We started well, but with the issues with our offense eventually created easy scoring opportunities for them.

Well... Everything.

Clippers came in the game and made sure Ingram wasn't going to be at them.

Clippers were able to crash hard on Zion with their wings with Zubac at the basket because they didn't care if Naji, Dyson, Jose, Herb got open shots.

Willie's insistence on using defensive heavy lineups even though we couldn't defend their pick and rolls. PG getting wide open 3s and Zubac getting easy rolls to the basket off the pick and rolls. Pick your poison. No answer for it.

We refused to space the floor and run offensive lineups leading to poor spacing and the clippers disregarding our role guys outside of Trey on the perimeter.

We lived and died by the Defensive lineups/rotations.

They didn't need a wall to neutralize us tonight. They just dared all our role players to beat them and they couldn't.

1. The Clippers played really good defense. We didn’t have a consistent answer to their double teams

2. Even when we did get good shots that are normally makes, it was like there was a lid on the hoop

3. Zion got hurt and only played 19 minutes. Was our top scorer when he went out and apparently was already injured before halftime

4. We looked tired as shite. 3 games in 4 days with it being home, away, home is just brutal as frick

5. The Clippers couldn’t miss a shot, especially not a 3

6. And this is the biggest one to me. Even when we had opportunities to get back into the game, Willie Green’s rotations were absolutely baffling. Probably the worst all year. We got the lead down to 13 points and played a defensive lineup that didn’t get a single stop. It was already a bad idea to play a defensive lineup while down in the first place, but continuing to play it while the defensive lineup is not getting stops is inexcusable. Throw Hawk and Trey out there with CJ and BI and live and die by the 3 at that point.

I don’t know how many times we need to say it, but you don’t get back into NBA games in 2024 by playing defensive lineups. You just don’t. Was really hoping Willie had turned a corner in that regard but it seems like not.

Trey getting 11 minutes through 3 quarters was a crime. Don't care if he's not hitting shots, he always has the gravity to add spacing to the floor. When he's in the game the Clippers don't leave him to crash the paint.

He just said in an interview he’s on a minutes restriction…

But he said it’s 20-25 minutes

Which still doesn’t explain anything about last night

And yet he put him back in the game in the 4th with the white flag squad down 30.

- They shot really well and we shot poorly. That's really enough of an explanation right there. It was an off night for Trey. I mean, just take a look. When our "big three" shoot 10-31 from the field, we aren't going to win many games. And maybe Trey came back a game too soon, IDK.

Overall, we shot only 36% from the field for the night (and it was worse than that until garbage time), and that many missed buckets led to a lot of fast breaks for the opponent.

- We had no plan for the Clips double-teaming BI. None. They'd trap him, and it would either result in a turnover or use up most of the shot clock.

- Guys were standing around too much instead of moving, screening, and cutting.

- Zion got hurt.

- Our bench did not bring the energy. Jose and Naji came into the game, and that's when the Clips opened up the lead on us. That never happens, but look at Jose shooting 1-7 and you can see how it happened this time.

Damn CJ took 13 shots and made only 4. I wonder if that was exactly what the clips wanted. Also Dyson playing 26 minutes in a game where we were shooting so poorly is abysmal coaching.

Clippers started nailing everything in the 2nd Quarter and playing good D. Pelicans couldn’t buy a shot to save their lives.

Clippers were also switching us to death.

They beat us like a dog.

couldn't knock down good open shots.
defensively bad communication.

What's scary about them is they legitimately have 4 guys who can put up 20 a night easily and a center who is VERY solid on both ends. When you have to put zion on norman powell to hide defensively that means we got issues somewhere else.

Hopefully, when Trey is full strength ( I think at most he’s been ab 70% this year) we have 4 guys who can easily put up 20 as well

Clips are a well-coached team with roles defined. Their game plan was to use their length on BI at the point of attack (isolating him at the timeline) and build a wall to limit Zion going to the rim. It worked.

And that's why CJ's poor shooting was the killer. Because if CJ is knocking down shots, the Clips strategy does not work.

The run really started when CJ went to the bench and we went to a Daniels, Herb, BI, and Alvarado lineup. What is BI supposed to do with that? CJ didn't even come back in the game until it was an 11 point lead.

The Clippers are a title contender and the Pels are a play in pretender.
