You can go to a local coin shop for an appraisal. I have used the coin shop on Sherwood Forest for an appraisal and I think it was around $400. Check with the auction houses as they might do one for you if selling the collection. Www.ha.com, www.greatcollections.com, www.stacksbowers.com.
I have bought from each of the sites mentioned above and would recommend all of them. Heritage Auctions will charge you the most in fees.

I've sold on both Heritage and David Lawrence. Both are good. Heritage takes forever to release your money. David Lawrence was faster with paying.
