It’s spelled Nolen. If you don’t think he’s better than any DL we have, or even in the SEC, you’re not watching. ATM’s DLine was light years ahead of ours and he was their best player. His stats don’t tell the story. He was double teamed regularly and got a ton of penetration.

There’s a reason his transfer rating is so high on 247 and On3

Yeah, if you check I misspell his name half the time and spell it right half the time. But hey, personally I don't give a shite but I guess you do. BTW, Nolen/Nolan is NOT as good as Smith was in 2021 season NOR is Nolen/Nolan as good as Wingo was in 2022. But yeah, injuries matter which is why Smith and Wingo have regressed. Talk to me when Nolen has a major injury like Smith and Wingo have...both required surgeries.

So yeah, I'm watching and apparently I can evaluate talent and play a lot better than you can. And BTW, I HAVE SAID that the LSU DL wasn't good this year so apparently yoyu haven't been paying attention. I have BLAMED the DL for a lot of the pass defense issues, NOT the secondary because LSU ranked 11th in sacks in the SEC. As far as his "transfer rating" from the BOGUS recruiting services, they are EXACTLY the same ones who rated his predecessor at A&M...Daylon Mack a HIGH 5* NG/DT and he was a complete bust at A&M. Thus, I don't give a flyng frick what 247 and On3 CLAIM. Hence my chosen userid of "NotaStarGazer".

One last thing...PFF which is the PERFORMANCE, not HYPE, rating system of college players has LSU DT Jordan Jefferson with a higher grade that Walter Nolen. The site is a pay site but they they list interior defensive linemen in order. Jefferson is #20 (page 1}...Nolen #197 {page 4)

I expect Wingo to declare. JMHO

I thought he would come back next season to show the pros he has recovered from apparently a pretty serious "upper body injury" that hindered his play most of the season before being shut down and having surgery. But the fact that he apparently is going to play in the bowl game MAY signal this is his "audition" to the pros so you may be right.

Do we know for sure that Wingo and Smith are returning?

Man you say all you want. Wingo is a better player. He was good immediately at Mizzou, he was good right away at LSU. He is a plug and play guy. If he’s healthy and recovered he’s an all American quality disruptor. He just is. He’s a proven commodity. Nolan has done nothing. Maybe he will be good but you are 100% full of shite.

hmm. A top 10 pick in next years draft in Nolan or one of the worst graded DL in all of college football in Smith.

That’s a tough call.

Lack of heavy portal pursuit implies yes they’ll be back.

Right. But even if wingo and smith are back, it seems shocking they haven’t gone for a DT in the portal. The depth isn’t there at that spot

So why wasn't Jordan Jefferson starting over Wingo or Smith? PFF had Brian Thomas Jr as the #287 WR (page 6). Do you agree with that?

I mean I think he has big potential. But I also think you are getting a little carried away, too.

SEC Interior DL's ranked by PFF Grade

No. We have just been hearing Kelly talking about “continuity on the DL” since the end of the season. He must feel that we will keep at least two of Wingo, Smith and Guillory, if not all three. We’ll see.

If so, Smith is still a question mark and i have see nothing which makes me think McKinley comes here. If he does, he will not see meaningful time for at least a year.
We sure could have benefitted by getting Nolen.

First, Wingo got hurt during the season from what I could tell. Second, I have no idea who "started" but Jefferson's playing time went UP while Smith's PT in particular was going down. And Wingo of course wasn't playing at all the last few games. Oh, and when a NEW guy transfers in and you have veterans returning, obviously there is some phase-in time for the new guy to learn his responsibilities in the defense, etc.

which explains why YOU are trying to spin Ole Miss into recruiting better than LSU even though apparently the recruiting services, which you obviously worship, dispute that. LSU is rated ABOVE Ole Miss in HS + TP recruiting. Oh, and if LSU signs either McKinley or Bussey, it won't even be close. Want some dramamine?

We still have big needs on DL, whether the overall class and portal have us highly ranked.

For the staff to not bring in any transfers at tackle, it seems that way.

Hopefully, you have passed that on to Brian Kelly. That is what I hate about these rookie coaches who have never won any FBS games. I'm sure he has no idea what the depth chart would look like next year.

I like Wingo, but Walter Nolen is probably the best DT in college football and will likely be a top 10 pick in next year’s draft.

Best in CFB

how the heck does LSU loose to Ole Miss in that battle?

that's a shame

He’s already signed w Ole Piss
W that being said
ONE absolutely BRUTAL DT could occupy upto 3 players…. Thus making an average teammate DT’s stats go through the roof…

Wings had a great yr 1
Mason really hasn’t done anything
And DOM is soft against real opponents
(Think ISH…. If you follow this board you’ll know who ish is)
