As they said in the 1947 Miracle on 34th street, "there's a lot of bad 'isms' floatin' around this world, but one of the worst is commercialism"

So the sentiment isn't exactly new.

I hate Christmas and this is a large reason why. Not even in the "buying gifts and wish lists are so commercial" way, but just how it's been warped into an adult holiday where people pretend all of their peacocking is for the kids.

I wouldn’t say I hate Christmas but I don’t love it. It’s two days of us driving across South Louisiana and the kids getting even more plastic junk than we know what to do with

If you ever want to call someone out when they claim "all of my hard work is for the kids", ask them if they let the kids decorate the home's Christmas tree. Who gets to decorate the Christmas tree is a good indication of who the holiday is actually for.

Our kids decorate our tree except for the glass/porcelain ornaments.

My husband is dressing up like Santa tonight. The kids always ask to look at our cameras Christmas morning to see if they can see Santa on them. This year they’ll be able to see Santa entering our house on the cameras. I can’t wait to see their little faces when we play back the video.

I love Christmas, just dont really celebrate it.

If I had kids in the house, I would be having the time of my life.

Its not the same without them. I do enjoy watching others celebrate though, does cheer me up some.

How many men died in childbirth compared to women since the dawn of man?

Santa is magic. No camera can catch him. Just like the little bastard elf on shelve.

Zero.

Each sex/gender has their burden to bear. Stop trying to be a victim.

Do you want to play the collective blame game when it comes to race and crime?

You'd be respected here more if you had consistent standards.

That’s rich coming from the guy who is crying because men start wars and draft other men to die in them.

Women hide behind man, who fight their wars for them.

Women love to enjoy the spoils of "colonialism and slavery."

I didn't cry. Just pointed out facts.

You're the one who started this with your "the only thing women get are the hard stuff, like giving birth and periods".

Such a whiney and entitled thing to say. But that's par for the course with progressives.

Digging ditches?

What percent?

Yes. Christmas has become so commercialized as to make the meaning of Christmas lost.

His mother gave birth to Him in a manger - the ground scattered with animal droppings. She wrapped Him in rags and laid Him in a feed trough lined with hay. As an infant, His mother sang Jewish lullabies as she rocked Him in a rocking chair His earthly father Joseph made in his carpentry shop. At night His mother slept like a good mother, half asleep - half awake as she listened, glancing at Him occasionally as He stirred in his bassinet. A bassinet Joseph made for him. He grew up in relative obscurity in an out-of-the-way village. He didn't go to college, he worked in his father's carpentry shop. His hands were callused. He was a good son, the best.

He is my Lord and King. I belong to Him. His mark (the Cross) is indelibly marked on my soul. Tonight (at midnight) I will gather with my fellow Christians and worship the Baby Jesus. For an hour or so I will be lost in the miracle, outside of space and outside of time.

He loved me, when I didn't love myself. I have had my share of joys and sorrows, life throws at you. He gave me peace when I was troubled. Time and again throughout my life, His message was whispered to me - I love you and I have not abandoned you. Say the words I taught you to say in a crisis - Jesus, I Trust in You. Say it over and over until all is calm again.

Whether the world accepts Him or not - we are all moving towards a cataclysmic moment when suddenly the trumpet will blow, the Cross will appear in the sky, time will stand still and all humanity will behold the Glory of God arrayed in the Heavens. There will no longer be any doubt whatsoever - God is real.

My Lord, My God, My King, My All. I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love you, and I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love you.

Merry Christmas.

Jesus, I Trust in You.

Picking the wrong season of the year, aligning it with a pagan holiday, was a great start.

I've gotten where it has become somewhat of a chore to me, from my perspective.

I've tried to reduce buying as many gifts for family and friends over the past several years and instead donate more money to the two large Christian missions in KC that care for the homeless.

I can't surprise the wife with anything because she buys what she wants when she wants it.
