Laying down in bed on my back face up, it’s the right side. Looking at the bed from the foot it would be the left. The door is on the other side, but my biometric pistol safe, and long gun safe are both on that / my side. Not going to defend anything unarmed.

I sleep on the right side. I had slept on the left side until 15 years ago when the wife and I traded sides when out first child was born.
There was more room on the left side for a bassinet so we swapped and we just never swapped back.
Also, I know a couple that just sleeps on whatever side they end up on each night. They just don't care.

The side of the bed closest to the door which is also closest to the gun safe so I can quickly grab the gun.
