Some of the comments on this board shows the lack of character and respect that quite a few of you have!

These people act like we have the honey badger waiting in the wings. Sage Ryan is a decent player with experience and right now, thats the best we have. We should be thankful he is coming back.

Do you honestly beleive that he has recieved the best secondary coaching available? I for one think that with a good secondary coach he can improve drastically. He has a postion and graded out higher than anyone else in the secondary. Granted it was a historically bad defense. Maybe, just maybe he wasn't "coached up" properly. Lets revisit this post next season if he ignores the vast majority of arm chair coaches here...

Didn’t get the market value he thought he was?

I have a feeling he and his Dad got a little dose of reality after looking around.

This is flat out ridiculous. Sage Ryan was awful and one of the reasons the defense was terrible. It’s OK to say an LSU player is bad.

Idk why we can’t criticize him cause “he’s a tiger and played hard”. That’s cute in middle school; in the real world it’s do your job or GTFO. Sage Ryan has underperformed and it’s OK to wish we had someone better than him

Put him at nickel with a better surrounding cast and better coaching and he's going to be just fine.

Nah, put him at safety were he belongs and has played the longest. Nickel is still a CB in most cases. But in this case, that affects the hybrid role Perkins is playing, doesn't it?

LSU’s 2024 defense will be at its best if Sage is not on the field. He’s a bad player on an awful defense. Don’t lower your standards because he’s the tallest midget. BK needs to go find some dogs in HS and the portal. He also needs to go find some coaches that can coach worth a flip.

This is good news. I know Sage hasn't been the 5 star impact player we all expected but he is serviceable and experienced and at the moment, thats better than any other option we have.

Well what if he gets some coaching at the Safety spot and he goes with Gilbert to those spots along with Burns. Alexander will be back and these young corners who got thrown in starting with the Bama game might be ready to develop further and be solid SEC corners next year.

The reality of possibly landing somewhere in the Sun Belt conference probably started to hit home

He was by far one of the better players on that atrocious defense. so this comment doesn't hold weight either. I am not saying he was good this past season but if we had 11 guys that played at Sage Ryan 2023 levels, we would be in the playoffs.

Most of the posters on here dont have level of understanding of team chemistry or synch. One single player can look bad because he is put in unanticipated situations that should have never happened because others failed on their assignments…

For example, a LB or DB whiffing a tackle on a ball carrier that cut back on the field or one that I have seen many times, a DB looking like he missed a coverage on a wide open receiver who was someone else’s missed assignment.

I dont know what Sage’s true skill level is but I know a lot of players look much better when the whole group is doing their job

He’s terrible at tackling and coverage

His tackling grade is horrible. His coverage grade and total grade are the highest at CB and the second highest in the secondary though, behind Andre Sam

I think things will change once we get a DB coach that can develop talent!
