I really hope we can go out and get DJ Lundy from Florida State

He could be the missing piece to our LB corps next year. Whit Weeks, Harold Perkins, and DJ Lundy would knock the heads of our opponents. Hope our coaches can make this happen

He is certainly built like a brick. Well see what happens but I would not be opposed to it as that FSU defense was nasty this year and he woild bring some leadership.

Is he interested in LSU?

That's something I have no idea about. Trying to find out.

Don't know if he is interested in coming here or if the coaches are looking at him....

But, he would be an amazing get! Looks like he would provide leadership, discipline, and guidance to Perk and the young LBs, as well as he has been part of that solid LB corp at FSU

Kelly’s comments about their young LBs and the incoming guys being early enrollees makes it sound like they are rolling with what they have at LB and looking for help in the secondary and possibly on the DL.

I don't know why anyone thinks LBer is a priority. It isn't! LSU is fine at LBer and with probably limited openings to reach 85, LSU should pass on a portal LBer.

LSU is fine with young LBs, no doubt. A really talented young crop of players.

But Greg Penn is a bad football player. Has been a bad football player for two years. And remains an incumbent with no real competition to supplant.

They did something about it last offseason but after 1 game where they didn’t like the way Perk fit inside, they scratched that plan.

Greg Penn has been the same player for two years.

No, he isn't a bad football player and has improved. Perkins, Penn, Whit Weeks, with West Weeks in reserve and the very, very good LBer class are more than enough. Don't know about Brathwaite from last year's class...obviously Dave Aranda at Baylor liked him. I think Kelly WILL and SHOULD pass on LBers from the portal. No need.

It doesn’t look like we are going to do anything significant in the portal. I mean it seems like defensive players would be lining up to come here but it’s not happening.

How are the big defensive players going to come if the coaching staff doesnt even try?

Perhaps, Kelly believes he has the defensive players coming up and doesn't need to hit the portal. LBers..no need. Secondary...no need IMO. DT is the only ? mark in my mind and it depends on who LSU loses out of the current roster AND if they return, will they be healthy. If they do and they are, LSU will be fine at DT for ONE MORE SEASON. Still, there will be more players entering the portal. Still time in this period and another one in the spring. I don't know what panicking really solves.

Greg Penn! This is the guy who will be talked about five years from now as someone who “sure got a lot better” in the pros.

AY’all will blame the LSU coaches for not developing him, instead of just admitting that you were wrong all along.

His move to Colorado doesn’t make sense unless he got a bigger check

Penn was better than Speights this year, that’s not even arguable.

Greg Penn is underrated but I for one am certainly not great at projecting to the pros which is why I stick to projections from HS to college. The recruiting services that believe they are better with 4 year projections (hence the basis for their rating system) than NFL GMs are on draft day. Greg Penn has dramatically progressed at LSU as Brian Kelly has also said.

No he isnt, he was probably our best defender this year given how out of sorts the DL and Safeties were.

I certainly wouldn't want to say Penn was LSU's best defender as the other poster claimed. Having said that, I will say this. Penn was a good SEC caliber starting LBer...not All American...not ALL SEC. But Penn was NOT a weak spot in the LSU defense.
