I think there was a documentary about it a long time ago. IIRC, he was pretty candid about allowing useless people to stay on his “payroll” because he felt like he needed to take care of everyone.

Lot of people from that time period talk about Hammer being a badass. Did not want to beef with him. Which I found funny but apparently true.
