Why are you hitting the marsh this afternoon if you

Just let the birds rest. This is why nothing sticks around anymore. You going "check it out" will have ZERO positive effect on your hunt in the morning but the potential for a huge negative effect by chasing of birds that have been resting comfortably. Aside from the other morons constantly running around "checking things out".

Uhhhhhh I have a camp. Do you allow me to sleep there tonight?

We go look with binoculars and hunt with outboards and pirogues to see where they are and make a game plan, not jumping ducks up. It’s a Popular tactic called scouting. If there’s no ducks, we will likely hunt des allemands. I hope this is all ok with you.

Fair enough. I commend you doing it the best way possible. I wish everyone did it that way. I love a good paddle in on a cold morning.

But you know there are plenty of knuckle heads doing exactly what I posted and it drives NUTS.

That's them! Lmao

I hunt Bayou Black, but haven't talked to anybody who's been this week. Hope the front helped because it was getting slim aside from the whistler and teal (which are perfectly fine for my tastes. Lol)

Seeing a lot of birds on the bar pits, crawfish ponds, etc. all along I-49 from Alex to Lafy. Hopefully there will be plenty of action in the morning once they all get to moving.

FYI
There's a pond/bar pit at exit 80 on I-49 that is covered in birds. Can't tell what they are but it has been bank to bank covered the past few days. To my knowledge the owner does not hunt it and does not allow anyone to hunt it. Someone drive by in the morning and spook them. (joke)

At least it would be something to shoot at. First split wasn't bad, but wasn't great. Oh how I remember the days when ducks would fall into Bennetts Bay on Cocodrie Lake. Good or bad and God willing, I will be there in the morning, and the next, and the next............

I have lived on bayou Robert for the last 4 seasons with a good view of a few rice fields looking toward Woodworth. I still haven't seen the first duck back there. This is a first.

Went Monday morning. Saw two woodies and that is ALL. Haven't been back the past two morning, may try again before the weekend. This is the worst I've seen in my 67 years on this earth.

I do not even tell people how many ducks we killed at Johnson Bayou in the mid 70's - mid 80s....they would believe me.

Still no water in the swamps. Had 3 woodies try to light in one of the dry shooting lanes that normally holds water. They are confused.

I drove around in the Tx panhandle this afternoon. There’s water everywhere now and still raining with another large cell coming thru. Interested to see what impact that has on the birds over here.
