are you aware of the phrase, "different strokes for different folks"?
I understand that Austin is a much more vibrant city, but you may be shocked to learn not everyone wants to live in the California of the south.

Oh - I absolutely get that and I actually like Baton Rouge. I love Louisiana culture period. Consistently amazed on this board by the number of LSU fans that talk shite about New Orleans, which is the most culturally significant city in US history and along with Chicago my favorite city in the entire country. I also think Austin was a hell of a lot better 30 years ago than it is today. That said, while I like the LSU campus more than the UT campus there is simply no comparison between the cities. Austin has way more outdoor activities, more diverse culinary options, better music scene, better economic opportunities, etc.
The traffic in Austin absolutely sucks and the city is far more phony than it was when I went to school, but it’s still a pretty great town. I’m quite sure I’m more liberal than 99% of this board so its open-mindedness is a selling point, not a detriment, to me.
I feel like I have the best of both worlds - two teams to cheer for and two places I love, albeit for different reasons.

Just about anyone would prefer Austin especially when you have a very high income
