He’s legit and can be one obvious piece that explains Sarks success this season especially over Bama and in recruiting.

It’d be weird to leave a team that’s in the playoff and all the recruits you’ve brought in there, but the intrigue of going back to your alma mater is always an X factor.

Kelly reached out to Davis 2 yrs ago when he was assembling his staff. Bo listened but couldn't be persuaded to come to LSU. Texas made him a sizeable increase in salary, and I think he's very happy in Austin and is getting paid for his efforts ... $1.2M with bonuses this year (2023). His contract ends in Feb 2025.

FYI - The highest paid DL coaches in CFB:

1. Larry Johnson, Ohio State -- $1.13 million+
2. Bo Davis, Texas -- $925,000+
3. Elijah Robinson, Texas A&M -- $867,000+
4. Jamar Cain, LSU -- $800,000+
5. Brian Williams, Maryland -- $775,000*
6. Tray Scott, Georgia -- $760,000
7. Nick Eason, Clemson -- $750,000+
8. Freddie Roach, Alabama -- $720,000
9. Miguel Chavis, Oklahoma -- $600,000
9. Mike Elston, Michigan -- $600,000+
11. Inoke Breckterfield, Washington -- $550,000
11. Mike Dawson, Nebraska -- $550,000
11. Rodney Garner, Tennessee -- $550,000
11. Odell Haggins, Florida State -- $550,000+
11. John Papuchis, Florida State -- $550,000+
16. Terry Price, Texas A&M -- $525,000
17. Lemanski Hall, Clemson -- $500,000
17. Tony Tuioti, Oregon -- $500,000
19. JC Price, Virginia Tech -- $475,000+
20. Randall Joyner, Ole Miss -- $450,000
21. Todd Bates, Oklahoma -- $440,000+
22. Kelvin Bell, Iowa -- $425,000
22. Jeff Phelps, Mississippi State -- $425,000
24. Brick Haley, Minnesota -- $420,000
25. Deke Adams, Arkansas -- $400,000
25. Charley Wiles, NC State -- $400,000

I'm biased as a Texas grad but have two kids at LSU so like both schools/teams. Being an assistant at UT is one of the best jobs in the country and if you are making the kind of money that Bo is the cost of living doesn't really matter, and while I love Louisiana culture Austin is 10x (really more than that) the city that Baton Rouge is. I get that he is an alumnus and if I were him that would be a strong pull, but he's got it pretty much made where he is. Also - UT fans love him. In addition to the absolutely phenomenal job he has done (recruiting, player development, leadership), a lot of us point to his meltdown on the bus after the Kansas loss in Sark's first year as the turning point in our program. I am 100% convinced Texas would match any offer for him.

I think your post is solid and if LSU can get Bo to come back home, that is a 2fer. Coach Robinson from Aggie is now DC at Syracuse. He was a DL coach right in your neighborhood that you battled for recruits in LA/TX/MS. Coach Davis, same thing at Texas.

If I am BK, I look to see if Bo wants to coach at LSU. Coach Davis is now 53 and grew up between Jackson and Hatisburg. As you get older, maybe coaching close to home and having a chance to drive and see family is a selling point. It was for getting our OL Coach Brad Davis.

So just my view, I like the way you think about this.

Sark was fortunate to play Bama that early in the season before they got their shite together.

We had a chance to get him and didn't. He has zero reason to leave Texas.

We see this thread every time we have an opening at the DL coach and he hasn’t came yet.so I’d say no, he isn’t coming.

The question still remains. What happens to Lindsey? We have to get that resolved and then bring in someone who is actually a D-line coach.
Having said that, I would be shocked if Bo Davis is in the conversation.

Is the deal cut already ? My question is hiring a D Line coach before a D C coach. So who is next years DC ? Should the new DC be involved in the hire of the D line coach. The deal is in place already for both.
