As soon as I saw this thread, I was putting together a similar post to yours. Talking heads keep applauding Michigan, Penn St., and Iowa's defense but if any had bothered to watch any of their games, they would've seen that they have no good offenses. Their defensive numbers are highly inflated.

Damn. Parker is making under 600K at Iowa. Offer him 2.5M and be done with it.

Wrong. He's making 1.4, second only to Ferenz. That's why I said offer him 1.9. Half a million more per year. That's enough to make a man really think.

Agreed. Who you play is as important as when you play them.

LSU vs Iowa would have been nice.

Iowa - LSU Offense vs Defense are the exact "Seinfeld" football opposite.

LSU Offense vs Iowa Defense would have been a great Bowl, but "No Influence What-So-Ever" Woodward, just bent over and took it Dry. (Like he does with a lot of things).....

Coach Parker has been @ Iowa in some capacity since 1999. This isnot his first solid defense. I don't see him leaving Iowa , and good for him if he's happy and content.

This response is to everyone echoing this sentiment. 90% of Big 10 Offenses rank ABOVE 100. It's by far the worst offensive league in college football. Hell, Penn State can't run the spread without finding a way to keep two backs in the backfield still.

Denbrock lost the award because of the amazing job the DC at Iowa did.

Denbrock also had an amazing year

It's easy to have a fake arse good defense when you play high school offenses every week.

It's actually much harder to win when you can't score in modern football. Shootouts happen all the time between high-powered offenses. In Iowa's case they were always one blown assignment from a loss. For them to go 10-3 on pure defense is nothing short of a miracle.

I worry about DC's who have been with the same coach for over a decade... Is it their scheme or just glorified coaches assistant...
