Depends on what you’re doing. Sometimes when I grow a new beard it’s itchy. Sometimes a new beard I’d don’t even notice

Mine was itchy when I first grew it in but I started exfoliating and using cremo beard cream some and the itch went away.

I give in and cut it everytime. It bothers me so much. I shower once or twice a day.

People will shite on beard oil and such around here, but your face will dry out under your beard, especially if you wash your beard with regular shampoo every time you shower. Regular shampoo strips every bit of natural oil from your beard/face. A little beard oil, or just some aragan oil, worked into the beard to the skin helps a whole lot with that.

I grow mine out every fall. This is a miserable 4 week or so window. When it starts I just put some conditioner on it in the shower and let it sit for a minute or so. Seems to be the best thing you can do before you get into all the scam products from ads you get on social media.

I try to shave every day, I’ll go a few days if I’m at the deer camp. I started growing a mustache in November and I think I’m going to run it until at least the new year, maybe longer, it is glorious.

Most beards will itch when they are short and just starting to come in. The beard itself or the growing of it isn't what is causing the itch, it's your dry skin. Use some lotion or better yet, a good beard oil, to keep your skin from drying out.

I have a full beard and keep it 1/2-1” long and never have issues. My mustache grows faster or something though, so it will start itching when it starts trying to grow over my upper lip or I’ll get a stray trying to curl up into my nose. I keep it more in the 1/4-1/2” range.

This.

I rarely ever shave. When i do, its typically for work. The only time its slightly aggravating is day 2-3 when it's getting past the stubble stage

Have you started chastising people for their craft beer choices?

Depends entirely on how quickly yours grows, but the itchiness goes away at a certain length. From clean shaven, mine takes about 2-3 weeks to reach that point. I trim and maintain it, use shampoo and conditioner when I shower, and use beard oil for formal outings, though in well over a decade of having one it’s only itchy for that brief interval at the beginning.

Never had a beard, verboten by the Pentagon and job. Didn't shave for a month after I retired, and then I realized why I never missed the beard.
