That was apparent a long time ago with all the undue love Fleur De Lis got. Best pizza in town? More like the worst.

Maybe Pastimes was worse, but it's close.

That rag is complete garbage now.

It is literally a magazine giving out their own made up award with their name on it. OP thinks there is some scientific method being their rankings.

Wonder if OP puts a lot of faith in JD Power awards. Or the Who's Who of BR.

Bland pizza with zero imagination or creativity. So it actually holds true that this is popular among the people who would frequent it which is people 60+ years old with zero taste buds.

So much this. Went there (Gov't St location) in March, for the first time in many years. I should have known better. I'm an enchilada lover through and through, and that crap was nasty.

$4 million asking price.

They want people to buy it for the price and run the restaurant the same way it used to be. Because, ya know, it's totally worth $4 million (down $500k) since it closed its doors.

I revisited the FB page and saw they effectively blamed the staff that didn't want to be treated like shite and praised the "loyal staff" who stayed.

God I hate those people.

People would rather vote for the places they know, even if they are mediocre, than either abstain from voting altogether or voting for something that they don't know.

So, that's why this is just a popularity contest. Superior Grill may be the most popular Mexican restaurant. That certainly doesn't mean it's the best.

I'll pass on Tio Javi's as the last time I went there, I did not find it that great at all. As far as Mestizo goes, been a couple of times but never had the desire to return. I just don't care for the "Louisiana" style Tex-Mex.

Y'all really underestimate the taste of the general public voting in these polls.

Some minivan mom that's never been to JED's, but sees 3 Poboy Express locations while hauling little Jaxton to travel ball practice will vote for Poboy Express.

Most people don't venture out of their comfort zone, so they don't know what else is out there.

Perfectly stated. How anyone cannot understand this is beyond me.

Lots of claims that the awards are paid for, yet zero evidence submitted.

Agreed.

Tio Javi's is just a rebrand of the same crap.

Growing up on Tex Mex, very few hit the spot for me in BR. I do like the fajitas at Superior though.

Well, unless someone involved with 225 came on here to confirm it, there is no way to “prove” it.

I’ll just say the place I worked (which isn’t an OT favorite by any means) got LOTS of love from 225 magazine for nearly a decade, we cut some of the spending one year with them and we barely placed in a category instead of winning or coming in 2nd in a few the previous year, then was completely left off balloting the following year all together when we quit advertising with them all together.

I do know that the voting that goes out to the public is legit. It becomes a popularity contest at that point.

What I don't know is how the nominations for each category get narrowed down so they can be voted on. I could definitely see that part being sketchy. Didn't get enough nominations, but you spent money with 225? Throw them in the mix.

Po Boy Express is solid. The best po-boy in town? Definitely debatable, but their food is solid. Their bread is not your traditional french bread, but still very good.

I wouldn't judge a beer too harshly that's likely been kept in a hot stadium for 3 months. There's zero chance that beer has been cold until it was put on ice for gameday. And it certainly hasn't been in some climate controlled place.
