The most talented is rarely the best.

So much of success is about heart and desire that many more talented players fail to live up to their potential while many less talented players far exceed what’s seen as their potential.

I don’t know if he’s the best from a pure talent/production standpoint considering the blessing of guys we’ve had since (Kamara, Ingram, even Bush has talent argument)….but Deuce was a beast.

Indeed he was a beast. One of my favorites. We really are just splitting hairs trying to pick between these guys.

Kamara is the fastest in NFL history to 3k receiving and 3k rushing, second in the NFL in TDs and yards from scrimmage since he entered the league, numerous saint records including TDs and seasons with 1300+ yards from scrimmage etc etc

He is the most talented saint RB to do it

His 2003 season was fantastic.

Hurt his ankle early in 04

ACL in 2005 and 07.

Very solid in 2006. Underutilized as a short yardage option in 08

When healthy he was a great back

He’s no longer the kind of player that can take over a game and put the team on his shoulders.

If he ever was.

His stats are good but he’s not the best to play the position.

McAllister was better than both, easily.

I have seen every running back the Saints have had since Michael Strachan.

Deuce and Ingram were very similar backs to me, I just think Mark was a little bit better

This is an insane take

Muncie was without a doubt the most athletically gifted.

I can remember watching Deuce in the dome run..and thinking to myself "man he's not running very fast" but yet he'd be pulling away from linebackers and safeties..he was a glider. And then there was that playoff game against the Eagles where we just had to kill the clock and they handed the ball to him like 12 times in a row for a touchdown to seal the game or at least that's the way I remember it.

Really great RB that ran hard with power and speed especially in his younger days. He was amazing at Ole Miss.

That f@cking helmet

Here Chuck is earning 1980 MVP of the pro bowl. When he was ON he was dominate and fun to watch. TO's and Coke really limited his career. Nice to see some posters remember.

Deuce was a great back but my favorite saints rb is pierre thomas. What he lacked in size and speed he made up for with excellent balance and vision.

He played for Ole Miss. One strike against him. Other than that, a very productive RB for the Saints.
