Everything Must Go from Red Rocks
California Magic from Playin in the Sand
Two great versions of these songs.

i've seen goose several times, mainly festival sets but i was at the PITS show with 2 full sets & and an encore, and also cathead jam last summer in jackson
this quote from daniel donato pretty well sums up my reservations about them (and about phish, to an extent)

That gives us the bandwidth to have room for really solid stories that have an emotional reality that is real for anybody who has the ears to listen. That’s the downside and downfall and demise for a lot of jam bands, which is they end up just sounding like suburban funk music. Without a story, you have nothing that you can meet people with.

Personally, I go see singer/songwriters to hear stories, i go see jambands to bliss out to the jams.

very well said....those guys can all play but they can't write songs that connect.
It's what sets apart the Grateful Dead from these jam bands. None of those bands can write a song that touches a Hunter-Garcia original.

Yep. I like listening to these bands because of the musicianship, melodies, and the feel/emotion of the playing. I don’t have to have a story, just great music. The music can move me just as much as lyrics. A Song like Elizabeth Reed is a perfect example. Not a single word.
You have guys like Zach Bryan with amazing lyrics, but music that bores me to tears.

Have you listened to Spafford at all? I had been listening to a Goose album on Amazon. After the album ended it played Spafford as a related artist and I’ve loved them ever since.

I like Billy Strings, but I don't find his songwriting to be anything special. I don't think many artists will be covering his songs decades later across genres like you see with the Grateful Dead. They really are one of one.
I feel the same about Goose's songwriting. It's fine and they have some melodic tunes (I'd say above average vocal melodies for a jam band), but their appeal is primarily in the instrumentation and improvisation.

Drummer Ben Atkind no longer in the band. Goose released a statement.
There had been rumors since their Europe tour that I didn’t pay attention to. I hoped they weren’t true.

The more I listen to Goose the more I like them. However it feels like they may have already peaked.

That he was leaving/ getting kicked out of the band. Of course we don’t know that he was kicked out. There official statements don’t make it sound that way.

It reads like a firing to me.
