The MIL is driving everyone nuts.
Let me preface this by stating she is not a cook. Rarely cooks anything other than whipping up some sandwiches for her and my FIL when they're home. When they're at our house she never lifts a finger in assisting in cooking. OTHER THAN googling every recipe and tidbit tip and ordering us to follow these important instructions she just learned.
Such as:
" Siri, what is the best way to cook Sweet potatoes for sweet potato casserole?"

"I refuse to eat imitation vanilla. It says right here it has too many chemicals in it"

"The turkey should be heated to the proper temperature and maintained until all are served. Yall need to get out some warmers to keep everything. "

Hopefully he brings it already cooked or you aren’t having turkey in 2 hours.

Hoping it isn't fully defrosted yet too

With the first two variables - it will only take a little stoking for you to make this thread shine. Start putting ideas into the old lady’s head about the commie. Help us out.

Looks like it’s happening. My wife’s aunt (the gambling drunk) said something about illegal aliens and Biden. This set off the communist going on a diatribe about imperialism, colonialism, and white supremacy. She cut him off by calling him “a worthless idiot” and reminding him “no one cares about the option of someone stupid enough to be a communist”.

The communist’s wife (she’s dyed her hair silver now BTW) has calmed things down by taking him out to the screened in deck to eat.

By the way, when I call this guy a communist, I don’t just mean your run of the mill Democrat. No, this guy is a literal communist who believes in ushering in the dictatorship of the proletariat under a Marxist system.

If I did not know that my mom is absolutely not doing that today I would swear we were related.

I would be a half a bottle into the bourbon if I had this happening around me.

Today marks the 32nd annual Thanksgiving tradition at my inlaws' house where the sound on the TV is muted all day regardless if we're eating at the table or not. The holiday rule in their house is the TV stays muted all day and everyone has to watch all the football games through delayed captions. HOWEVER...2023 has a new twist. We arrived at their house to find that the TV is not on today. They won't turn it on so it looks like this is how it will be moving forward with no football games. It's going to be a great day! LOL

Tell him he should hold himself more accountable than those he thinks he’s smarter than. His way is just lazy, that’s why he’s broke.

Damn Vader no wonder u are so good at model building.

30 minutes out here, 3 dogs six adults, 3 generations. The kids complained about the mashed potatoes from last year. My wife hurt her back and has pain radiating down her leg do clearly a disc involved, but managed to get everything done. Lions suck.

I am sure at some point kids will sneak out and vape some weed or something but in a few hours we will all be stuffed and sleeping on the sofas, etc. The kids with a buzz

I have been discovered. Maybe I could've been more discreet in how I ate them.

No fricks given. Going back to drinking Turkey 101 on the patio.

Tell him to give everyone there equal portions of what is on his plate and he can only eat what’s left.

I couldn’t do it. No way.

Though apparently I have messed up and left my wife & daughter in the living room. They’ve turned on the dog show. Now I have to sit though this until they get distracted and I can turn it back to football.

By the way, the communist has come back in. He’s sitting over on the couch like he always does with his phone literally three inches from his face so he can see it. His wife (the one with hair dyed silver) is talking to my MIL about about some anime cartoon. It’s apparent silver hair cannot read people’s faces because I can see my MIL would rather drive bamboo spikes under her finger nails than listen to what silver hair is saying.

Ancient aunt has also just randomly declared, without being asked, that she hates having dogs inside because they’re “disgusting, filthy, and shite everywhere”.

Since the kids are here can’t somebody explain the Jack Harlow thing to me? Why was there a little twinky guy dancing around behind him on stage with Detroit lion fur stuff on? Is he his bf or something?

This happened 15 years ago but wth:

First Thanksgiving I spent with FIL and his family at wife's Grandparents house. Whole family is pretty crazy except her uncle and wife. We're all sitting in the living room after eating and I was flipping through TV channels looking for a fb game. Uncle comes in and sits in the recliner and grabs another TV remote and starts going through channels. Every time he would stop on a show I would change the channel with my remote (he didn't know I had a second remote). Dude gets pissed and yells for his dad that their TV is screwed up. This went on for a minute and I showed him the second remote. Everyone laughs and he comes and sits by me to start bs'n. I'm like hey man I'm going to the store to grab some beer you want something. Dude hands me a twenty and said get him a case of beer. I get back from the store and uncle is in the driveway. I hand him the beer and he starts pounding them away. At this point my wife is ready to go home so we say our goodbyes and leave. A few days later my wife gets a call from her dad informing her that uncle and his wife are getting divorced. Come to find out he was struggling with alcoholism and after he smoked the beers he lit up a joint. Wife comes out to see what he's up to, only to find him drunk and high. Guess she had told him beforehand one more time and we're through. So I ended up feeling like a pos but nobody knew about his struggles other than her.

Oh, make no mistake, in his little Marxist mind, he’s smarter than everyone. He actually has a good job I think. Not sure exactly what he does other than he works for the EPA, of course, an avowed communist working for the Federal Government. Shocker, right?

ETA: this, and argue politics, is all he does.

Speaking of communists, this is some commie shite right here. There's not much more American than football on turkey day. Not allowing the game to be on would be the dealbreaker for ever spending the holiday at the in-laws again.

My Thanksgivings are usually pretty tame. Small family, no big get-togethers. It's usually just me, my wife (no pics), and in-laws. Closest drama so far is my FIL declaring he normally doesn't like turkey because it's almost always dry, but this was the best turkey he's had. He also said the same thing last year at Thanksgiving.

I made the turkey the last two years. I think it's a bit of a bold statement to make in the company of my MIL who was a Home Ec teacher.
