The non profit organization I worked for spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to convince the state of CA that wild turkeys were native to their state. They fought us at every turn. The grape growers led the charge.

In the end we were able to identify Turkey bones from the tar pits, took them to court and were eventually able to restock turkeys in CA.
