Wife and I ate there Friday. I ordered the so called seafood platter, wife had barbecued shrimp and mashed potatoes. She had so much oil and grease in her bowl it was absolutely disgusting. I had two tiny pieces of very undercooked fish. The TWO hush puppies were so hard and small like a marble you couldn’t eat them without breaking a tooth. Fries were cold and hard. Both orders were 23 dollars!
We sent the food back and left, all the while they kept trying to get us to stay and try other food. This place will not last.

A seafood platter and a BBQ shrimp dish at these price points seem very fair.

I don't know what people are expecting sometimes when they complain about restaurant prices

I can't comment on the actual food because I haven't been there

Seafood is expensive. Fry oil is expensive. The latter has doubled in cost since the beginning of Covid. Repeat: a 35# container of fry oil has doubled in cost.

Everyone wants living wages to rise but no one wants to pay for the results. Be careful what you wish for

They getting squeezed out by all the other places around it now
I never thought it was that good to begin with
The only reason it did well is because it was convenient and one of the only options out that way

Now you have Mike Anderson's for competition and Hot Tails and pretty soon Our Moms

I had heard last year that Our Mom's purchased property to build on Hwy 73 but I haven't seen exactly where...or any construction. What is the status of this new location?

Pretty sure they bought the lot next to Baker across from Prairie Oaks subdivision. Land hasn't even been cleared so wouldn't expect it any time soon.

Mike Anderson’s, that’s what’s happened. Drive by the old Sammy’s location and look at the parking lot.

Jeds just re-opened and after comparing the old menu to the new one the poboys are all $7 more than they were previously. Granted they come with fries now, so it's more like $4 more per poboy. Still ridiculous price for a poboy.

Someone on this board mention something about Sammy's opening up in the now closed Porch Light restaurant. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

This place has been around for over 20 years

Might have been an off night, I take clients there a good bit for lunch and have never had any probems

It opened in 1996 if I remember correctly. I worked there in high school and college, shucking oysters and bartending. When it was Terri's, the quality was very good. She got tired of the business and quality fell off, Brewbachers group bought it and cut a lot of corners.

As far as I know, they still have it. I never was impressed once they took over.
