Gallagher's is awesome - great spot too.

Delmonico's is incredible - lots of cool history.

Keen's has a cool building. The food was not worth the money.

I know it’s a chain; but, this one remains the most memorable I’ve ever had.

I second this. The food is as good as it gets for a steakhouse and the location is beautiful.

Luger's is a letdown for so many reasons. All it has going for it is the historical aspect.

Exactly my take. If it is a bucket list item do it. Otherwise I strongly recommend you pass.

Delmonicos was really good.

I wasn't impressed with the service at Peter Luger's. It seemed like we were inconveniencing the waiter by being there. Maybe he was just having a bad day.

I'm going to try Sparks the next time I go to NYC....and hope I don't get wacked.

Also whoever recommended Del Friscos... it is a chain and it is darn good.

Ate at the Manhattan Del Frisco' back in 2016. The best porterhouse I have ever eaten.

Most of the best ones have already been mentioned.

Sparks is my favorite, but everyone has their own. Not sure who you will dining w/, but Sparks is more of a guy’s place, I’ve gone w/ work clients, some buddies, my dad, they all love it. If I took a girl there, they always found it kind of boring.

Another very good one is Mark Joseph. Highly recommend it.

As for Luger’s, my only advice is I always found it way more enjoyable for lunch - get the burger - than at night for dinner. Service is much better during the day.

Agreed on all accounts here, especially Lugers. Their burger is top notch and I would only consider this for dinner if you absolutely want to cross off a bucket list or say you have eaten here. Way too many better options for steak if your criteria is based on food quality.

Gallaghers is also up towards the top of my list of NYC steakhouses as others have mentioned.

Can't go wrong with almost all listed here.

Just remembered Hawksmoor of London is opening in New York, I really enjoy that place. Never been to the New York location.

Peter Luger

is awful. Not even overrated, it flat out sucks.

If you're going to do a steakhouse in Brooklyn, do Gage & Tollner instead.

- The Palm
- Keens
- Del Frisco
- The Strip House (on 12th street only, the midtown one is not nearly as good plus it's in Times Square)

Are all very good.

I've heard fantastic things about 4 Charles Prime Rib but have not been. If anyone has been there would love to hear their thoughts on the experience.
