The Giants and Jorge Soler have come to terms on a three-year, $42 million deal, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports.

Per Rotoworld/ NBC Sports:
quote:

Susan Slusser was first with the agreement. The Giants did need the middle-of-the-order threat, but Soler is far from consistent and offers little in the way of defensive value. He’s also going to be playing in a park that suppresses homers. Since he’s likely to serve primarily as a DH, the Giants will have to go back to moving Wilmer Flores around some, which hurts because his defensive utility has also taken quite a hit in recent years. Flores could see a fair amount of time at first and third initially, but he may eventually settle back into a platoon role against lefties.

Soler has been inconsistent in his career but 2022 was really good and he was good in 2023 until injuries got to him. Miami isn't known for a hitters park either so I don't think the drop off will be much if healthy.

Why did Fanatics take a massive dump on the new jerseys? My god these things are fricking awful.

Fanatics and Nike are getting destroyed on X, Instagram, and Uni Watch. The white outline around the logo, batterman stupidly moved lower, smaller names and numbers, names on back arched too much, different break in the middle of the text on the front, lower quality materials and chain stitching all looks like arse. Players say they don't fit right, and look cheap. But the cold reality is, they were already ruined last year with hideous fricking ads.

You can see the differences on the back. Last year's on the left. And this year's on the right. Some teams, like the Dodgers, now have ugly holes in the numbers that some NHL teams have switched to. Braves uniform has now been downgraded with the red piping now running through the empty space in the middle of the 'a' in their name.

Manfred says he won't seek another term as commissioner after his 5 year term expires in 2029.

That's the best news any baseball fan could possibly hope for.

Except we've still got 5 more years of him.

Way too early prediction, Big 10 commissioner Tony Petitti. He jumped from Manfreds old job to big 10.

Dodgers will have a Guggenheim patch on the jerseys this year

Some companies pay for an ad on the jersey, others buy the whole team

Dodgers one is pretty bad too, perforated numbers are so shite and they split the D now. Also the color change like the Cardinals where the shine on the color is gone, now it's just like a dark flat navy blue, same off white as everyone else too. Just absolutely awful idk how they could let this shite fly especially with the players hating them so much too.

I'm sure someone just as terrible will replace him. Manfraud will hand pick his successor.

It gets even worse. Dodgers dirtied up their uniforms with this trash. At least Goodell has a backbone to stiff arm that garbage. There is already enough fricking ads during every game.

It will be hilarious when players uniforms are ripping during games sliding into the bases. Adidas introduced those shitty numbers with the holes years ago. I kept telling noobs on another platform that we don't want Nike making the uniforms. I hope you stocked up on Penguins jerseys before Fanatics predictably fricks them up next year.

It's wild Nike would outsource like that for a major sports league. And anyone that knows Fnatics branded shite would know they'd frick up the jerseys majorly.

The Phillies and Whit Merrifield have agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.

It also includes an $8 million club option next year.

That's a good signing for Phillies with Marsh banged up heading into camp and insurance if Rojas bat doesn't come around at the beginning of the season.

Passan has an ESPN+ article out on MLB expansion. He says Manfred would like to have expansion on his legacy by the time he leaves in 2029. Passan says insiders believe Nashville and Salt Lake City would be the likely choices pending outcomes of the Rays and A's.

Division realignment seems like it would be easy assuming you swap leagues for Tampa and Colorado. League doesn't really mean anything anymore since everybody's playing with the DH. I'd think the Rockies and Rays fans would welcome the opportunity to get out of a division with the Dodgers and Yankees respectively.
