For bars, I trust that Alexis will sort out her dismount issues over the next two weeks. Dunne’s DLO dismount has form issues and she gets hammered on her half pirouette on the low bar. Aleah’s dismount is too inconsistent.

Our weak link is beam IMO. OU consistently starts with a 9.95 from Audrey Davis and their scores build from there. Meanwhile, our first two beam routines are guaranteed non 9.9s. Kiya and Aleah also give up tenths in wobbles in almost every single routine this year.

Vault is vault. Gotta find those landings.

Floor - just keep doing what we’re doing.

Regionals showed that the only 198 teams are OU, Cal and us (not gonna count UF’s horrendous overscore). We’re right there if OU slips up.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again - but I think it’s gnat. They have not been able to put together a championship level beam team since she has been there. I will give her credit that she got them *relatively* consistent this year, but Sierra is a 9.8 on her best day and if Alexis has her best today and judges blink on her wonky form she can get a 9.9 1 time out of ten. Savannah probably peaks at a 9.85 on her best day because of that switch 3/4 and she hasn’t seemed too stable either of her times out, though she has been serviceable. However, you don’t beat OU, or even Cal, with serviceable on beam.

Don’t get me started on Kiya/Aleah. Both of them have been huge disappointments on beam this year. I have given Kiya a pass since coming back from injury but her being generally a 9.85 max has hurt us as compared to before her injury. Aleah’s issues have been well documented this year, and that routine would have been 9.95+ yesterday if she had managed to stick her dismount (the dismount that every other college gymnast always sticks because it is the easiest one possible to do)

I think even with the talent of this team, it will take a minor miracle to beat OU, or even put pressure on them in the final, given they will like get Olympic order.

landings are everything across the board

Yep. And we haven’t consistently hit landings this year.

If she hasn’t figured it out yet, I doubt it magically happens now.

It’ll take a monumental effort to beat OU. It’s possible but we have to be damn near perfect.

I posted in the Regionals thread but it was at the very end when it was dead...

I was pretty pumped Alexis was back in the lineup on bars because she has been a beast in the leadoff spot. Did not realize the reason she has been out was because of... VERTIGO. Wtf. I ddn't grow up around gymnastics or have a kid in it, but that seems like about the worst possible thing for a gymnast to have. I mean her landing 100% looked like that kicked in. She always has had a little bit of a "soft knees" landing, but it looked like she just straight up leaned over and fell down like she was dizzy, not because of footing or rotation. Put the team in a bad spot but I also just felt bad for her because it's clearly an issue.

I've watched every meet and I don't know why but I feel like that was the first time I heard them say it was vertigo she was dealing with. Not sure how you can even do gymnastics with that much less at a high level. I'd prefer for her to be in the lineup, but if that's still an issue, I don't think you can have her in.
