Just some highlights from Jay Clark's interview with the All Things Gymnastics Podcast:
-This year's team motto is "Get There," being present every day in training
-Jay is being cautious with Konnor's training, especially the leg events, still planning to do elite, college routines are the foundation for her elite routines, still training double full on vault
-Aleah rested after Worlds, but she fully regained her previous college routines (except she changed her vault from Omelinchek to Yurchenko 1.5)
-Kiya has recovered well, training her double full on vault, double full dismount off beam, 3 pass floor routine, Jay hopes to limit her leg events early in the season even though she is ready to compete
-Freshman look to make an impact with Amari Drayton in AA, Konnor McClain in AA, and Kylie Coen mostly on beam/floor
-Sav Schoenherr is fitting in well and has become a vocal leader
-Jillian Hoffman had a procedure on her elbow for a preexisting issue, so she just started training vault at the time of the interview
-Cammy Hall is back, training vault and floor, more likely to compete on vault, very positive figure on the team
-Jay and the staff are trying to plan line-ups before the season to allow our AAs rest while also using our depth, but line-ups will not be "set in stone"
-Jay thinks that depth is our biggest strength and also our biggest weakness, has emphasized selflessness within the team, communication is key
-LSU has hired security who work with local authorities to protect gymnasts with the rise of NIL and popular athletes
-Optimistic interview!

I’m gonna miss her OMELIANCHIK. I love how unique it was and form wise, she performed it incredibly well. 1.5’s can be hit or miss on the form and sticking end, especially when it comes to how she’s done it at the elite level. Could cost us a tenth or more in the post season when there’s already better 1.5s/10.0 vaults on our roster with NCAA competition experience.
