In high school a long time ago I read every Grisham book. Then sometime in college or shortly after, I was reading one and finally realized/admitted they aren’t very good anymore.
Seemed like he’d start decent, then when he had enough pages written he’d start looking for an exit.
Still pisses me off that in The Partner on the very last page of the book the girl takes the money and runs.

Me too. I was bummed out for days.
In the nineties and up to several years ago, his books were great. But the last several I made it through has been a chore.
