The last 2 and half games the defense has seen to find a groove.
Are they the best we’ve seen…absolutely not
But they look different and not just because of who we’ve played…the mentality looks much improved
They don’t have to be great against Bama
Just hold them under 30 and we win

I wish I could believe...we have played 2 out matched offenses. I hope we can look improved against Bama.

Your statements are all true. But Auburn and Army had zero passing game. But, yes the defense didnt appear confused or out of place. I’m hopeful. While Bama hasn’t been consistent with their passing attack they have been explosive with their passing attack at times. This will be a much greater challenge. Hopefully our players just step up and Milroe doesn’t play like Joe Montana.

Eye test? Did you watch the 2nd half of FSU, 1st half of Mizzou, or the entire game against Ole Miss? You're crazy if you think this looks good. Don't get so excited after we crushed Army.

You need to get your eyes checked.

this exact thread was what people warned about weeks ago. the defense would look decent against two putrid offenses in auburn and army and people would use that as evidence we will be fine against bama.

that is a very, very, flawed argument.

Yes. In those games we had poor tackling, missed assignments, lack of discipline all over the defense. Those issues aren't due to the other team. That's fall camp stuff.

In the last 2 games (as OP stated) those issues have seem to have been addressed. There was a specific instance vs AU where the QB rolled out and the WR cut upfield and the CB followed the WR instead of like vs Ole Piss where that same CB tried to get the sack and gave up a TD. Tackling is better. Sam is playing much better.

SO yes, the Defense isn't great still, but you're splitting hairs and missing the entire point of the thread.

It seems the line is playing much better, freeing up the LBs and speeding up things for the QB.

That alone should make them quite a bit better.

Sage Ryan will be one CB and I’d guess Welch will be the other starter. Freshmen will have to play some snaps. But, it is not likely to be two true freshmen cb playing and certainly not starting

Auburn and Army are a lot different than Alabama

Very much so. But Bama has the 78th best pass offense. While Milroe has gotten better, they are somewhat one dimensional in passing.

Auburn is probably the least talented offensive unit in the SEC.

Army was shut out by Troy St. the week before they played LSU.

I'd love to believe too, but as long as Matt House is calling the plays, I have no confidence at all.

They throw the deep ball about as good as anyone, and thats where we can be really susceptible along with 50/50 balls since we dont turn our DBs heads around. We simply dont have guys who can cover Burton and whatnot so we have to get creative there in coverages.

uh, no.

The last two games were against putrid offenses, so our defensive performance doesn't count.

In the second half against Mizzou, our D wasn't better than the first half, which was abysmal. We gave up the same number of yards each half.

Context is everything, and feeling better about our D just because it performed well against Auburn and Army is just plain silly.

I was thoroughly unimpressed with the run defense vs what should have been an overwhelmed opponent in Army. But that's just my old eye test.

The Bama game is going to resemble the Ole Miss game on defense.

Sorry. It is what it is. We lost too much at an area we didn’t have much to lose.
