We will be flying into Atlanta(family of 6) Tuesday - Saturday and renting a car to head up to a cabin with family.
We have never been to this area and not sure how cold it can get. We are more beach travelers so a cold thanks giving will be a new experience...Kids don't even have coats!
Does it snow during this time there?
Looking at a trip to Helen to see the little town as well as a trip to Amicalola Falls.
Any other suggestions while there?

typically not THAT cold, but we went last thanksgiving and a cold front came through and the low was in the 20s. I'd expect milder temps and there's not a ton of elevation. Great little area, lots of easy family friendly hikes in that tri-state area.

Snow that time of year is pretty unlikely, but it's possible. You'll likely see highs in the low 50s to mid 60s.

Toccoa River Swinging Bridge. Real pretty and super easy hike (walk) to the bridge.
If you have any time without the kids in tow, Wolf Mountain Vineyard is great.

Amicalola Falls will be great with family. I'm not a huge fan of Helen. It can be fun but is past its prime in my opinion. I generally recommend people go to Dahlonega instead. The downtown is better than Helen and there are 2 gold panning places (Crisson Mines and Consolidated Mines) that the kids will go nuts over. Blairsville is also a really nice small town. Brasstown Bald and Vogel State Park are also good stops if you are looking for scenery and hikes. Merciers Orchards near Blue Ridge is worth a look. Also check out Atlanta Motorsports Park for high speed go carts near Dawsonville.
