Or we lose Bates and Causey doesn't flip. Causey is far from a lock to do so.

Not to say Woodland is a scrub, his film shows otherwise. But in camp, head to head with most of our CB prospects, he was the worst. We passed on him for a reason. Hell insiders confirmed we passed on him just last week. That's where the handwringing comes from. The board hasn't changed since the spring. What have the staff been doing? They weren't on top of the Evans situation, doesn't appear they were ready for the Bates possibility and the board is exactly the same as in the spring leadup to camp season. It's obvious coaching hasn't taken up too much time, so again, what have they been doing? It's a fair question.

Johnson-great athlete that has to adjust to a position he's not used to playing
Causey-a backup plan
Woodland-a backup plan

doesn't inspire confidence that the issue is getting fixed. Another round of transfer portal hopes and dreams I suppose. So far that has been a failure at this particular position.
