How season 4 ended was so brutally realistic I still think about it sometimes.

Bubbles may have the best character arc of any television character, ever, and is one of the best acting performances as well.

From the wiki:

quote:

Royo is mostly known for his starring role on the HBO crime-drama series The Wire as the drug addict and confidential informant Reginald "Bubbles" Cousins, a regular character since the show's first season. Royo's portrayal of this character was so convincing that, during on-location filming, he was once approached by a Baltimore resident and given a small package of heroin, with the man saying to the in-character Royo: "Man, you need this more than I do." Royo has called this incident his "street Oscar."

People still sleeping on Season 2. Boris. The Greek. There is FANTASTIC television in Season 2.

There’s so much great stuff in S2: McNulty looking up wind patterns and tides to stick the bodies on Rawls is one of the greatest things ever
Omar with the GOAT cross examination testimony in TV history
Nick Sobotka’s girlfriend’s assets

The Greeks and the contrast of them vs the street guys is one of the most important elements of the show imo

I think they’re still several universities with courses structured around The Wire and content from the show.

Imagine being an undergrad student and that being your introduction to one of the greatest series ever.

Dude. It was awesome. One of the best episodes of the series honestly. A lot of gut wrenching stuff going on.

1) The shite with Bubbles and taking his life after unintentionally killing Sherrod. And then visiting him in rehab was depressing
2) Omar per usual is a badass. Stealing the Co-op stash and selling it back to Prop Joe. Love that guy.
3) I'm sorry but I hate Marlo. Smart guy but he's also the world's biggest bitch
4) Prop Joe seems like a smart guy but I don't see him lasting in Season 5 coming up.
5) Good to see Vondas and Cheese back
6) Feel very bad for Randy. I get snitches get stitches, but he'll be bullied for the rest of his life. And his poor mother getting hurt for no reason.
7) Namond isn't like Wee-Bey and would have never been cut out as a dealer. He is also to weak. Glad at least Colvin stepped up and decided to let Nomand live with him. It's for the best. Also the mom is a jackass.
8) Even though I'm not a Carcetti guy, I do rather him as mayor than I do Royce. Carcetti is smarter.
9) Poor Bodie. I respect him for not going down without a fight. Yes he's a dealer, but he's a respectable dude.
10) Glad McNulty is back with the MCU, but he's kind of a boring turd now that he doesn't drink and womanize anymore. Hope that changes.
11) Don't really care about Herc though his storyline doesn't interest me

Either way, that was a great wrap to season 4 and we'll see how the last season ties it all together.

Also it kind of saddens me watching this show now realizing that the guys that played Omar and Cedric Daniels are now dead. Guess it shows you how old this show really is. Thought they were both solid actors in other movies too.

I just started watching it. Jimmy is a good character but his accent is distractingly bad. Exact opposite of Idris Elba who you would never know isn’t American.

I just finished Season 4 last night...for the 5th time. And as soon as I am done with Season 5...I am going to start watching it for the 6th time.

Honestly...it gets better each time you watch it.

Omar is the greatest character in the history of television IMO.

Congrats...its a great show.

Turn your phone off and pay attention. Treat it like a movie. Keep with the show while they build the story and the characters...once they build the foundation...it takes off.

I compare it to a roller coaster...the 1st minute is rather boring until you reach the top...then its on. Which is about the 7th episode in Season One.

For me it’s the entire police department getting pissed off and rallying up after Kimas’ failed undercover operation. It takes off after that . That’s the pivot point of the first season in my opinion.

I gotta ask. Did McNulty hate Harbor Patrol or love it? Never could figure it out.
He didn't like it although I think at some point he tricked himself into thinking he liked it. Once he fished that body out he was back to being a murder police. He got out of there as quick as he could.

S2 is great. I just enjoy 143 more. But it’s cool to see the upper layer of the drug game and how involved it all really is with the Greeks and that whole crew. I do wish they would’ve gotten more in-depth with that group though, that would’ve been cool to see.
