Highly recommend this event. I’m out here in Phoenix and went to the Scottsdale one earlier this year. It was really entertaining and a great time. Definitely doing it again.

Agree.

Excellent venue here, and no security issues.
Hopefully it goes well for NOLA.

Will probably try to make it Thursday.

Hope they have a first gen Prius going for a decent price.

The BJ people were out at the Beers and Gears event at NOLA this weekend. They were really excited and hopeful it becomes a multiple time event.

Be packing if you go. Head on a swivel.

I'm skeptical on how well this goes in Nola

If they can keep security tight, I think it will turn out okay. This will play a big part on their decision for a future return.
We are heading for CtC next week otherwise I would have made plans to attend.

Sales are what will make this event return.

Though many sales are by internet as well, they bank on crowds attending as well. They don't want the word to get out that people's vehicles and the personal security is at risk by attending.

Well, they held the event in New Orleans with that already being the feedback.

If there is a shooting outside or some wave of crime in the immediate area like break ins, those big money vip people that keep the event rolling with big sales will tell Jackson and Davis they aren't coming back. They're pretty in touch with people once you get above just going there to gawk at the cars.

They regularly email me and call me about their events once I bought vip packages and signed up as a bidder.

I told them I'm a local for this event so I didn't need any accommodations. Ended the call with I'm only going 1 day so there's less bullets to dodge then I hung up the phone.

Did you really? Lots more than what you listed.

Yes. Not saying it’s bad. Lots of things I’d love to own, but I’m not in the market and there’s not enough interesting vehicles to get me there to look.

Honest question - which cars on the docket are expected to bring big money? I’m guessing the Ford GT’s, saw a numbers matching drag pack Mustang, or maybe some of the late 60’s Corvettes?

The Ford GTs, McLaren, Lambo, Eleanor Tribute, and the Hennessy Velociraptor Bronco are probably all going for >$200k I'd assume. Idk the market for the muscle cars but there's tons so wouldn't be surprised if some hit $100k.

I think that's what he was getting at. Sadly, 100k at these events now is basically chump change

I watched part of a Mecum auction the other day. For the first time in a while there were actually some "deals", or final hammers that at least compare to private sales. Of course the oddball, rarer, or historical stuff will still command top prices, not to mention the charity vehicles....which shouldn't be mentioned at all.

I really wanted to take the $35k cash we paid for my son’s car and go to the one in the desert…let him pick out something cool. But I don’t know enough about cars to steer him into something reliable, so we didn’t. Probably would have been a 240/280Z or some other small sports car. Probably wouldn’t have liked it as much as the car he got though. If he was interested in trucks or a 4wd I think we could have found something much cooler than new.

My experience with car stuff in La is you better go the first time it happens. It won't make a return trip. Look at Indy at NMSP. Run the race outside of April for the weather and not against the jazz fest it probably works.

Their main problem appears to be getting consignments. As of today, they only have 350 lots listed on their website for a three day auction. I would expect this to be more around 700 to 800 for them to make a decent profit. By comparison, Mecum Auctions had almost 1,600 actual cars at their four day event in Dallas last weekend. Based on that alone, I wouldn't expect to see them coming back.

This is the same problem they had in Houston and they actually had a larger number of cars at their Houston auction last year, but didn't return. They put on a good event in Scottsdale, but they can't figure out how to replicate it elsewhere.
