They should be so co-proud.

That’s an elite comment!

The SEC office did send them a trophy. They give any team that finishes in first a trophy no matter if they lost to another team head to head. The head determines who goes to the championship game or seeding in tournaments.

That's all well and good, but I dont recall ever seeing championship banners from when we "won" the West in 1996 and 1997.

We are rushing six guys. They made it look like 8 so Ole Miss wouldn’t know whom to block.

Do you have a link to this?

No link—talked with one of their 2003 players this morning. He said it was a weekend that Eli was available but he thought it was a bad omen since they lost to us that year

Wait what? Did you look at the gif?

We are clearly rushing 8 people. He snaps the ball and 8 guys run at the QB, one guy pulls off late trying to make a read

This article says they are honoring the 2003 Cotton Bowl Champs

That makes it sound even worse. At least just own the co-champ sign and throw a parade or whatever. I’ll be in the suite right above his retired jersey signage. There will be a strong contingent that will be mad.

Who awarded a trophy to LSU that year?

You do realize there are numerous recognized national champions that did not receive a physical trophy right?

The fact that the NCAA themselves recognize LSU as a co-champion is good enough for most people that understand how the championships worked in the "olden days"

They used to be in our indoor practice center. Haven't been in there in years so no idea if they still are or aren't. I mean I get the making fun of it.

Also, this is where we get to point out they have unironically named part of their pre-game tradition the "walk of champions."

Do you know many Ole Miss fans? They think they’re Alabama without the skins on the wall. Absolutely most delusional fanbase in football.

For what, exactly?

Finishing the season tied for first in the SECW?

As a note, this would be the same thing as LSU honoring the 1996 and 1997 LSU teams for finishing the season finished tied for first in the SECW.

Not much of a reason to celebrate that when you have real championships to celebrate.

6 Division Titles
4 Conference Titles
3 National Titles

All since this 2003 Ole Miss' team achievements.

Here is how the game ended for Eli:

He would have been sacked a second later if that had he not fallen. Our d-line absolutely blew up their o-line there.

Should make for a nice trip for Eli and his family

Watching him in an interview during the Arkansas game that year looking dejected couldn’t have been more glorious.

Doesn't choosing the LSU game to honor them serve to underscore that they didn't win shite? They might slip it by another opponent unnoticed but not 2003 SEC and BCS Champion LSU. A very Ole Miss thing to do.
