Pythons are ambush hunters in general. They like live food.

I think the only way to decimate their population is to bait them with thousands of mice, rats and rabbits with Tylenol collars. Tylenol is a strong poison for snakes.

Not sure they survive the winter.

They should star requiring people that breed and sell the to start chipping them like dogs. That way when one is killed in the wild they can see who it belonged to and prosecute them for releasing them.

In Guam they are dropping dead mice laced with Tylenol into the trees to bait the brown tree snakes that have destroyed much of the native species. Brown tree snakes will eat just about anything. Pythons do love live rats and such.

Other than finding some kind of sex hormone to attract them live bait will work and it is easy to breed mice, rats and rabbits.

Thankfully it gets just cold enough to prevent them surviving the winter.

Conversely, I'm surprised only the Burmese Pythons are thriving in FL. Why not Ball Pythons, Boas, etc.?

I love this topic for some reason. I have no clue what they should do about the problem but it sounds like a really bad scenario.

You’re an idiot. Do you think the chip is embedded in their DNA?

Pretty sure this isn't why the issue is out of hand nowadays

This and the wild hog problem are fascinating. We could solve world hunger killing and cooking these things.

I have killed many big rattle snakes and have grilled and fried then. There's a backstrap the whole length of the snake. The meat is delicious. Super white clean tasting. A mix between frog legs and chicken. Start killing and eating them bitches. Lots of meat on them!

Yeah, that snake is already out of the bag. Ten to 12,000 have been rounded up, but the population is still exploding. A female python can have 60 or more eggs at a time.

I think they have some rock pythons around but could be remembering wrong. The Burmese probably have just the right tolerances to make it through the cooler times down there.

I don't see them getting rid of them all. One avenue would be trying to figure out how to make breeders spit out sterile offspring as one line of defense. Like they do with the other genetic morphs. Not sure if that's possible tho.

Hunt, yes. There are scientific ways, perhaps.
