MSU sucks too. I believe they were behind this also.
I think it’s pretty obvious they are using this as an excuse to fire him. While I doubt they set him up or anything, I think it’s clear that wanted to the allegations to be true so they could get out of a really bad contract.

The problem, IMO, is that I won’t think anybody believes the decision was purely “for cause.” Yet, they want people to believe that their decision was as justified if the facts only support his story, that it was consensual, and not her story, that it wasn’t, and pretend that this isn’t a major story because of her story that it wasn’t consensual.

Now I know his moral clause was vague, so maybe they will have a solid case, but you can’t convince me that it’s AS solid, if the facts don’t support her story.

I think she’s probably a lying piece of shite, but they can still argue that a prior consensual relationship doesn’t change the fact that she felt like he was harassing her in the moment or some dumb shite.

Changing her story to say they did have a consensual relationship would be a humungous red flag on her credibility to anyone with common sense.

MSU saw this as a golden opportunity to fire an underperforming coach and not have to pay the full cost of his buyout. They 1000% know the actual facts of this “incident” do not fully match up with the context in which they are being portrayed by this woman and the media. They also fully expect to be sued by Tucker. The strategy is to NEVER let this matter get anywhere close to a trial. Rather they intend to try to settle the litigation at a much lower cost than the full cost of Tucker’s contractual buyout. In fact, I expect they already have a settlement figure in mind and will soon make an offer to Tucker, if they haven’t already. If/when settlement happens MSU will consider that a success because they got rid of a coach they don’t want at a “discount”.

Anyone who believes otherwise is either not paying attention or incredibly naive.

Tucker committed the a cardinal sin of major college football coaching. No, not pounding his pud while on the phone with some grifter….Losing

No, Mel Tucker is the issue here. Mel Tucker is the fire you’re talking about. It’s Mel Tuckers problem.

I’m shocked, SHOCKED, this board is defending Mel Tucker here

If you really believe a school with an interim President, a very new AD, and the BOT who are biggest group of dumb shits north of the equator could pull that off due to, at that point 1 losing season, you give MSU wayyyyy too much credit.

They saw an opportunity to fire him due to a story from a SA survivor at a school that has one of the worst sexual assault scandals in history on their record.

The vague clause in the contract will most likely free them of a significant majority of the contract. If he was winning this would have gone away months ago, with a check to Tracy.

This entire thing is a hoax fabricated by a scorned consensual ex-lover with major credibility issues and MSU would be sleazy enough to libel a man to avoid paying his buyout because he’s losing. I hope Tucker sues everyone to oblivion and gets enough to live out his remaining days easy.

Dude it's not the school. The boosters funded that contract.

This is similar to last year when the Auburn boosters created an internet rumor that their coach was sleeping with an admin to try to cause the same uproar and get out of his deal without having to pay him

I’m on Team Tucker here, he sucks as head coach you bite the bullet and pay him his contract not libel the man a la #MeToo so you won’t have to pay him in full. I hope his lawyers destroy Tracy’s credibility for the rest of time, sociopathic POS.

Posters seem to forget that old Tucker is a married man. Let's not act like this is Trevor Bauer or something. Dude stepped out on his wife and got caught. He doesn't deserve to be railroaded but he sure did put himself in a bad position.

So the Mel Tucker phone sex call was consensual per a witness, Brenda Tracy was down to $5 and trying to extort money from Mel Tucker and she was shopping her story to ESPN employees to control how they covered the story.

Between this and the Trevor Bauer story, all these years later and Bill Burr is still right. There's an epidemic of gold digging whores in this country.

Of course they did. But they wouldn't have had this opportunity without the absolute stupidity of Mel Tucker. I have little sympathy for him, I mean this is dumber than Hugh Freeze.......

They'll settle IMO. MSU just wanted to move on and not be on the hook for the whole contract.

They don't want this dragging on and interfering with their ability to hire a quality coach in the future.

Consider this, what if they've been covering stuff up prior to now, and now that they want him out they just are finally allowing his transgressions to see the light of day? I guess I'm saying maybe it wasn't stupidity, but what they've condoned.

That's the type of thing that could come to light during discovery and if so, I don't imagine the school wants that. That's why I think this gets settled because MSU probably has some culpability here too.
