I keep coming back to this on BK: He is 61 years old and wants a National Title

or more. He has already accomplished pretty much everything but winning the whole thing. He was winning double-digit wins in his last games at ND, and no ND fans were calling for his job. He could have coasted to retirement and moved to the beach to golf.

Instead, he came to LSU and has 10-11 more years likely to win a national championship or two. Les and O did it so I just don't understand why BK wouldn't be able to.

That is why I feel confident he will make the necessary coaching changes to recruit and play at the level LSU fans are expecting. Just my two cents.

Well said.

It’s year two.

Granted game one of year two could not have gone any worse. But it’s still season two.

Some are expecting him to outperform Nick damn Saban. He went 2-6 in his first year at Alabama. Went to sugar his second year.

Also for first responder, he did not blow his shot this year. Damn people.

I suspect the huge pay increase had a play in this.

Double sided: he saw that an above average, but less than perfect goof like Les Miles was given many years of mediocrity and a ton of money. A win win in his book.

Because the roster was so depleted, this will be a 3-4 year turnaround. Even with the portal, you can’t build program continuity. He’s only had one recruiting class, he lost two DL coaches (one to NFL and the other to health), had no idea about QB leadership when hired and chose to recruit JD because Nuss chose to sit out the bowl game, and Bk needs to establish trust with recruits and high school coaches which takes time and is why he’ll stay loyal to JD and those who commit to the program. Last year was truly a great outcome given all the issues. Let’s see how the young players develop. That’s the key.

It is worth noting that he was only making 2.7 million at ND and LSU tripled his salary.

I mean I get what you are saying, but let’s not act like $100 million didn’t play a factor in his decision.

You would think he wants that crown jewel but if you look at our coaches it looks more like he wants to hangout. We don’t really have anyone that other elite teams would kill for on our staff.

We also seem to not be willing to bid on big time guys.

Les & O did it primarily through recruiting success & some great assistant coaches. The transfer portal & NIL have changed that landscape, but net, net, you have to have a roster that can compete & assistant coaches who can put players in positions to succeed. I see no reason BK can’t do it here.

this is what I say but this fan base (tiger droppings) expects a Wendy's drive-thru of wins. Order and get it. They want to now. It's childish and sad.

I keep coming back to that fact that he was 4-11 vs top 10 @ ND & he is now 2-3 vs top 10 here.

He has won two national titles at Grand Valley State in 2002 and 2003. I am afraid we got Les Miles and Coach Orgeron post national championship coaching.

We've just been extremely fortunate, so we take it for granted, but winning an NC is extremely difficult. I think only 13 schools have won NCs since 1998.

Based on the last two coaches to win one at LSU, it seems like Kelly has been a good enough coach to win one as well with LSU's resources, but we'll see.

What coach doesn’t want one?

It’s not about want. Every single coach wants one in the SEC besides a Vandy

One of the things that makes Saban a winning coach is he will cut loyalty to win games. Whether that’s a coach on his staff or a QB. BK needs to evaluate the staff at the end of the season and make decisions that are best for the program.

Only Bobby Bowden has won his first natty after the age of 60. And BB almost won several before he did win it.

Hiring his mediocre pal Denbrock doesn’t inspire confidence.

One thing I would be cautious about is this is the first coach in a while with almost no financial incentive to win a title. The last 3 were trying to get paid.

All those years and has he ever coached an NFL caliber quarterback?
