Thinking of flying from NOLA to Hilton Head/Savannah/Charleston. Renting a car, and traveling/touring the other two.

Sometime in the Fall "when the leaves are changing" as she says.

Yea, nay, suggestions?

Not sure that would be the first place I'd pick if I were interested in seeing changing leaves.

Charleston is amazing the fall - for details see the five million prior threads on what to do

Savannah/Hilton Head are about 2 hours away. Also nice, but much smaller. If you're staying for 5 days total, you probably don't need more than a day in Savannah and honestly I'd skip Hilton Head (not much there besides beach and old people).

Ain't no leaves changing in the lowcountry so if that's what you're looking for it's the wrong place

The good news is that you should be able to walk around without melting, but you're not going to see much in the way of leaves.

Okay, got it. No leaves changing.

Sounds like Charleston should be the focus. Any particular events in the Fall that might be worth planning for?

Hilton Head is fun if you like golf, Sea Pines golf course is on the PGA tour (The Heritage - tartan jacket). You can do a lot in Savannah, great food, Tybee Island is a nice beach. Agree with the others in that there isn't much to see in terms of leaves...but the cooler weather should be better for walking around. Highly recommend a walking tour in Charleston.

I can't speak to specific events. I'm a history buff and and enjoyed all of the historical sites in the area.

They have boat rides out to Fort Sumter. There are also several ships anchored there that you can tour, one of which has a Medal of Honor museum on it.

My in-laws really enjoyed an open-air market.
