Regarding Denbrock’s Play Calling

It doesn’t work with JD running the show. Square peg round hole sort of thing. But I’m not so sure it doesn’t work otherwise cuz when I see Nuss in the game, there doesn’t seem to be the same problems about Denbrock when you have a QB who can actually throw the ball. Watched all of Nuss highlights from last year and that doesn’t look like an offense that doesn’t work. It seems to me JD can’t do the things being asked if him and if that’s the case then they need to either play Nuss or tailor the game plan more towards what JD can do better like rolling the pocket on most plays. Just my observations.

By halftime, we had 300 yds offense.
That's a lot.
The red zone play calling continues to be awful, which is why we get deep in their territory with no points.

I don't really agree.
I don't like the tight formations. I hate that everything is short to intermediate passing. And, I hate how poorly we run the ball.
But, I view all of those things as scheme and philosophy. Play calling worked pretty much all night. We easily could have score 40 if things fall differently.

I am curious after watching some film whether we have any option routes in the system.
For example, look at the first 4th down where JD held too long and got sacked. If Malik has an option route by reading the corner's leverage, he could have broken into the middle for an easy TD. Instead, he swam around to work to the back corner where the DB had good leverage inside, and got open too late for JD.

That literally speaks to the incompetence of the OC to adapt his scheme to his players. You call plays that fit your players skill sets. SMH

Most of the routes are outside the hashes and one on one matchups. The formations are very predictable and rarely confuse defenses (outside of the 1st play on Sunday). The routes are often long developing timing routes. Daniels has shown hesitancy in throwing those balls. That offensive approach just doesn't fit him. To me, LSU has to have more one-read, quick hitters and use multiple formations more to create the matchups you want so Daniels can get the ball out quicker.
The passing game looks FAR more explosive with Nussmeier at QB because he is not hesitant to throw the ball on contested routes downfield. The downside of that is he's going to throw more INTs because of it. BUT, if this is the passing game the OC refuses to modify then it may be better to play Nussmeier. I don't say that as a knock on Daniels. I think he does some great things Nussmeier can't. But he's just not a match with what Denbrock wants to do. So if the OC isn't going to change his approach (and he's shown he isn't) then the only other choice is to change the QB. Otherwise, expect to continue to get the same results.
Good coaches put their talent in the best position to succeed. Bad coaches complain they don't have the guys to run their "system"

Does anyone have the time or the inclination to chart each one of Daniels' throws, noting completions, incompletions, interception?

Denbrock can’t use the full playbook with JD in the game. As far as short yardage and goal line, how often does JD check out of plays? I see QB’s on other teams pre read and make adjustments but I don’t see him do that. Maybe they don’t let him? I don’t know but I did see Nuss check out in the SECCG more than once.

JD is a RB. Hard to have a productive down field passing game with a RB throwing. Unfortunately it is needed, because of no rushing attack. Daniels is only effective at throwing balls at the LOS and running. Recipe for lack of points and multiple losses.

Red zone play calling was the absolute worst. Probably the biggest game changer on Sunday.

Yeah but your observations suck honestly.
It was good enough last year to win 10 games and the SEC west.

With the athletes LSU has on offense, running tight formations is idiocy at its best.

Wait what?
JD makes Denbrock's shitty run scheme go. Desmond Ridder is also a mobile QB, and that was Denbrock's apex.

Not sure why they were going head to head with fsu. Spread the field, go tempo, and create lanes for both the passing and running games.
