Nice. A downwvote, but it is true.

LSU listed the initial candidates for the opening, and Tate wasn't among them. When they announced they had trimmed the list to a smaller, 2nd round group, Tate still wasn't a candidate. When they listed the three finalists for the position, Tate's name finally surfaces.. The rumor is that someone on the board really wanted Tate to apply, so they added him to the finalists (3rd round list) after he missed applying initially. I mean, that says it right there that they already had their man and the review process to choose a new President was just window-dressing to the give the appearance of a fair selection process.

Full List of Applicants with 8 chosen for interview: No Tate

Three Finalists Chosen and Tate finally shows up as a candidate

We were not fans of some of his wokeness when he was here at South Carolina. I am happy for you guys (and President Tate) that he wasn't the disaster I figured that he would be when he got the crown down there.

That’s a plus. It’s LSUs court, Dale has no entitlement to the name nor were his accomplishments anywhere near significant enough to deserve that honor.

Sue is more accomplished (Olympic Coach and Hall of Fame); honors that Dale would never achieve.

Tate made the right move here, Gunter and Brown are placeholders until Mulkey takes every future honor.

Well let’s be honest now. His Bio wasn’t what a traditional LSU alum would like and to me he seems a little light weight, BUT the notion that we are letting everybody in and lowering standards just isn’t true.

FACTS: The average incoming Freshman this year has an average HS GPA of 3.82 AND an average ACT score of 26.5 vs. 26.1 last year. The average ACT score for all LA HS graduates is 18.1 for last year. LSU is not letting everybody in. That’s BS.

How many of us would have been average? I’d have been an alum of SLU I guess. Stop bashing without facts.

Has he improved the status of the university?

Probably not but that takes time. We have to boost the university's reputation to attract the best people, who then have to produce results.

Also has to fix F King's damage on the academic side.

Pleasantly Surprised. I was one of the crazy politic board guys when he was hired. Happy to admit I was wrong. The guy lives LSU and Louisiana. That’s about all you can ask.

This. At least normal people like us can admit when we are wrong. We
Just usually are right more times.

He has done so well that the average ranters might resist the urge to burn everything down if they see the words "critical race theory."

Excuse me Dovehunter? Where did I "bash" anyone? I am truly glad that President Tate is well received in Baton Rouge and I meant for my post to reflect that.

I'm going to wait to see if Kelly can win a National Championship in his third year before I cast a vote.

Sounds like the orders may have come from on high.

I’m responding to the notion that we have let everybody in. It wasn’t intended to be a response to what you said. My texting skills are limited. Sorry if I offended you. Don’t be too sensitive. LSU has the best ( on paper) qualified freshman class in history. Now is Tate responsible for that? I don’t know. I suspect our success in sports helps as much.

LSU is trending up right now. We are winners and those HS kids take notice of recent trends more than anything. Tate has supported the Greek system too which is vital to the long term success of the university as well. Ex-Greeks contribute like 80% of all donations to LSU. LSU can’t be great without donations just like sports won’t be successful without a robust NIL program. LSU is a front runner on the NIL stage. Tate hasn’t hurt that effort.
