We’ve got the highest high tide I’ve ever seen here but I think it’ll be headed out by the time the storm surge is here. There would have been some neighborhoods in quite some trouble if the high tide and storm surge would have been simultaneous.

No idea how to post gifs here but this is a cool high speed similation:

Hurricane #Idalia will bring destructive winds upon landfall. Strong winds will also affect northern Florida and southern Georgia where the hurricane moves inland.

Mark Sudduth does a great job at Hurricane Track

active on twitter @hurricanetrack

His group is the one that puts out the cameras and records pressure and storm surge.

Mark is good people. You'd spend worse money than throwing him/them a few bucks on Patreon to get access to their live cam and weather station network. The other stuff, like their tracking map and dashboard, are good as well. He's pioneered the remote cam livestream that several are using now.

If nothing else, give him a follow on YouTube and watch along some with his vehicle livestream. His update videos are quality, too.

The moon right now have the tides extremely high. We are in Amelia island and the tide yesterday covered the entire beac to the berm at 7:00pm. Never seen that before.

Was crazy.

The area of Florida this is heading is my favorite part of mainland Florida...Great fishing and scalloping...IMO it's old Florida of 70 plus years ago.

Generally a sign of a strengthening storm.

It says the convection is getting high enough to produce ice. Typically a sign of intensification ongoing.

Still trying to build a core this afternoon. Really can't wait for another plane to get in there.

It is a lot of timberland. Live Oak and Perry are a little more inland but Cross City and Old Town are only about 18 miles away from the coast. The towns from Cedar Key north include Horseshoe Beach, Steinhatchee, Keaton Beach, Spring Warrior. I am very sad about the hell they are all about to experience. I have been taking clients fishing down to those areas 5-6 times a year for a long time and have made some really good friendships with many families in all of those villages. The one I am best friends with is the owner of Up the Limit Charters in HB. Captain Brett is one of the most honest, hard working salt of the earth people I have ever known. His whole life and work is centered on fishing, scalloping, duck hunting charters and working his arse off making sea walls and salvaging sunken boats. Just a great guy. Sick to my stomach anticipating the next 16 hours.

Is this where we are suppose to believe they stopped shooting blue and now shooting the higher intensity yellow laser beams at it to intensify it even more???
