fair enough. I retract my NF statement. all of my experience is in backpacking and I dont use any North Face gear for that. It's so behind the times.

What’s a backpack? Are you talking about a booksack?

Get her what she wants. Make sure it fits from now for the duration of use. Do not put her name on it unless she want strangers knowing her name.

We spend a lot of money on everything. Dog food! You probably have $9,000 of unused features in your cars.

Bought a North Face Heckler 9 years ago for $95 which I did not consider expensive. I carry everything but my laptop back and forth to the office every day.

It is still like new.

Heckler

Had a North Face Teardrop for many years that I bought around 1973-1974. It worked for the times. High school and college.

North Face Teardrop

I still have old North Face gear from the 70s such as a goose down Superlight sleeping bag, down mountian parka, etc. They are in better shape than I am.

It was a long time ago. A few of the main backpacking brands were Kelty, Sierra Designs, North Face, Camp Trails and others.

Eddie Bauer and LLBean were more designed for car camping. I bought a very large LLBean flannel sleeping bag last year after the freeze and loss of power that we had for days.

The LLBean school packs are nice, but stick to what your daughter wants.

They used to. Not sure about the newer ones.

I still have/use mine that I bought in 2004.

I had a 2004 that I used pretty heavy outside in the elements I just had to ditch this year. I'd say 19 years out of a backpack is pretty good deal.

I picked up the new North Face edition of the same backpack and the updates are awesome.

Outside of North Face, I like LL Bean.

You might as well just get her a Bud Light backpack

Just wait till you get divorced. Then you will be buying three backpacks each year

Had a dark red one through middle school and high school, got it 16-18 years ago. Might still have it somewhere. Never gave me any trouble.

The real question is do you put it in a buggy or a cart when at the store.

I still have the NF backpack/book bag I graduated with from Zachary in 1989. The stitched on logo and a couple other things had broken over the years. I sent it to them a couple years ago. They stitched on a new label and replaced some of the plastic bits on the straps, all under warranty .

Now, it's good as new. Still use it regularly, and I've had it since 1986.

my kids could care less about new backpacks. The wife however thinks 2 years is max usage.

The oldest dies have a NF and it has a couple rips. But that boy is rough rough rough on stuff. We have to buy about 6 pairs of shoes per school year because he tears em up playing pick up basketball.

They’ll hold up your nuts while the doctor cuts them off to help with your gender affirmation.

You're going to buy a new backpack every year. Accept this fact and you will be happier. The same one would be boring and most likely not in style next year. Besides, they get grungy and gross. They need a new one each year.

Count yourself lucky. While my kids are now grown, parents in my district have to buy clear vinyl ones and are lucky if they last a whole semester, much less a whole year.

One of the smaller zippers is messed up, but other than that my North Face from 2008 is still holding up.

Since she’s not in high school just get her a cheap backpack and sew a north face patch on it.

I had a NF one that lasted forever. Recently switched to a Tumi and like it much more.
