Currently have used the Cap1 Venture Card for i don't know how many years. We put as much as we can on Credit Card and just pay off every month. Then we try to bank points for any vacations each year.

Just decided to look at Cards and Venture X seems to give you same double points per purchase but greater travel rewards and perks. Has a much higher fee but comes with $300 travel credit and $100 travel credit each year so that covers itself.

Seems a no brainer to go with this card. Anyone else use this card and any other advice? I'm sure there may be better options out there but i like to keep things simple and like the overall ease of use and travel points with Cap1 Venture.

thanks.

The VentureX is our main everyday spend card. No qualms about it

If you travel a lot no reason to have the venture over the X

I use Venture X. My only issue is I don’t like having to book through Capital One travel, but the $300 travel credit + annual points bonus immediately cover the annual fee.

This is probably a dumb question but will my points transfer from the venture to the venture X? I assume yes but wanted to double check.

I have the Venture X as my secondary card. As others have said, the travel portal isnt great, but I can find something acceptable to get the full credit for.

How is using their travel portal? Don't you have to use their travel portal to get the benefits/points?

I have the venture and haven’t switched over to the X. Sometimes I book through the portal, but I usually find better deals and more options booking directly or through other sites. We travel a two or three times a year, but the increased fee just makes it not worth it for me.

If you switch, let us know what you think after a while.

Yes, it's a no brainer. Points will transfer between the two cards. Booking through the portal can be a pain, but you can book a refundable hotel and cancel it once the credit hits and they don't claw the credit back (at least not in the 2ish years of the card's existence). You can add free authorized users who get lounge access too.
